Greenwood's future

It’s bizarre

I know letter of the law etc he’s innocent but haway man

If he worked in an office and shared a space with your daughter, and you heard that tape, would you be happy for your daughter to go and spend all day sat next to him, let him be friendly to her and socialise with her? I'd want her nowhere near him, to the point where I'd encourage her to leave that job rather than be around him.

All that just from that tape recording, it's incriminating enough. It can't be misinterpreted, it's plain as day. If he would treat his own girlfriend like that then he would treat all women with similar levels of disrespect. He's an absolute danger to women.

For them to get back together you have to wonder if there‘s some controlling and coercive behaviour going on. That itself might be another crime. You would have thought part of his bail would have been not to contact her. I would say getting her pregnant is contacting her, he should be in bother for that at the very least.

Who’s to say he’s going to be any good when he does come back?

There was a video of him training the other week he looks like he can’t even kick a ball properly anymore

Horrible little him

I know a few Man u fans that want him back, they say what about Gazza he brayed his Mrs and people still loved him. I guess they kinda have a point.

Not everyone loved him, and he'd already firmly established his credentials as a mess before other simpletons accepted / encouraged / ignored or laughed about his completely chaotic personal life and domestic abuse.

Never chopped anyone's head off mind, or imprisoned them for having a different view, or hoyed them off a roof because of their sexual preferences, so he's not as bad as some currently being fawned over.

If men are still as backwards now in their support for a woman-beating arsehole as they were in a time before I was born, then society has an even bigger problem in its treatment of women than I first thought.

No they don't have a point, they have whataboutery responses.

Gascoigne was in a different era and if his circumstances had happened now I daresay he would be received differently. It's also worth noting that he hasn't worked in football since 2005 (I think).

Taking that argument to ridiculous extremes Greenwood and Gascoigne are okay because Henry VIII was a bit rough with his wives...doesn't really work does it?

C&C behaviour was one of the charges and, yes, his bail conditions forbade him to contact her - yet he did.

The weird thing is that they're apparently back together.

I know if I was wrongly accused of something like that, there's not a hells chance I'd get back. The only things I can think of that make sense is either he's massively controlling her, or she's blackmailing him to keep her in a lifestyle to keep him out of jail. Either way, on the balance of probability it makes him look more guilty.

But just to play devil's advocate, not to defend Greenwood (as I think he did it) but to slightly defend those defending him.

If you go back the Ched Evans case, the conviction was clearly dodgy as owt, but many on here got labelled rape sympathisers for questioning the conviction. The complaint wasn't made by the lass who didn't know what happened but by hotel staff. The CPS still went ahead anyway.
In this case the CPS have dropped it, so it's understandable why some might have reservations.

Did they have video and audio of Evans demanding sex from someone clearly unwilling to have it? If not then they’re not even comparable.

It's more the consistency from the CPS I'm querying. Caroline Flack was another, the boyfriend didn't want charges pressed, but still went ahead anyway. Yet despite the evidence, why has this been dropped? Its weird.

Sorry but I may be one of the few that hasn’t heard the audio people refer to

By law he is innocent as no charges were brought due to person dropping the accusations and other evidence being withdrawn so likely success at trial was impossible

He’s been at Man Utd since the age of 7 and I think they are now realising that as a club and employer they have a duty of care to the player which they haven’t really shown since charges were dropped

Yes it could have been handled in a better way by both player and club and sponsors are not against him staying

Fans protesting are women in the majority but people should remember male domestic violence happens too

Just my opinion
Here's a transcript of the audio for you to ponder. Views?

The witnesses withdrew their evidence.
