When I played in Italy our coach insisted we let the opposition team have the ball in thier own half, we only closed them down in our own half and forced them out wide as we had big center backs. So it is a thing.

That’s interesting. Yes he’s on record (from before his time here) in podcasts/interviews saying he likes to allow the opposition time on the ball so they come out to the halfway line. Then if we get a quick turnover there is a whole half of free space to attack.

Whether we will end up doing that is a different matter, but he’s certainly not fixated on high pressing like some are

Not at the start of the second half, and our press is very poor, they just jog to the player and then back off.
