Greek Island Holiday Help

Currently in Zakanthi bar in Kalamaki and a bloke is playing Can't Help Falling In Love (Wise Men Say) on a saxophone 😍
Our transport from Argassi drove through there and it seemed a canny area, if a little out the way and isolated - but I might be wrong as it’s hard to tell from a bus. Drove past what looked like a nice new hotel called Cavo Suites.

It's my first time here and I'm an old fart (52), has everything I'd want. Beach is 600 metres away from the hotel and there's a strip with plenty of bars and restaurants two minutes away.

Hotel is nice and chilled and although it has 400 rooms, it's all low level.

It's the Bitzaro Grande we are in.

Aye, it looked a really chilled area from what we saw with more than enough amenities. Just looked it up and pretty sure we done a pick up from there. Looks a good hotel. Enjoy, said it loads on this thread but I’ve yet to feel let down by any Greek island, find them all so peaceful and make great holidays.

Kefalonia is lovely from top to bottom IMHO.

Zante is similar but Laganas is a blot - right in the middle

Santorini is another beautiful island but it does attract a lot of tourists and cruise ships so can get busy. Fira is where the gold shops are (the views) which is the opposite end to the better beaches (all black sand)

Corfu has been mass touristed at times but still has some nice areas

I went to Rhodes a few years ago and stayed on the windy side of the island in Kremasti. We were in an Aparthotel. Really nice.

There was a big party of us and after eating at this taverna twice the owner said he would do us a feast of a whole lamb.

For some reason, and despite trying I have never got to the bottom of this, we never went back.

You got any restaurant recommendations? Were going to Lassi next wednesday for 10 days. Staying at the lorenzo residence apartments. Seems to be in a good spot, near the strip of bars and restaurants. Definitely hiring a car too, for the time we're out there.
Just got back from Lassi. Sto Psito (best view) and Phaedra are nice. Go into Argostoli and check out the Hidden Garden restaurant and Ladokolla. If you want a drink, then Irilena has a great looking garden bar where its only 3.5 euros a pint. Argostoli I would say Baroque de bisto

Heading up to rythmonononon ( spelling 😁)

Repeat of Place In the Sun yesterday around Rethymno (had to look it up) area. Some great properties. Went there in a thunderstorm last year and had a great steak and grilled vegetables beside the harbour. Fabulous memories. Definitely got me thinking about bringing Crete back into my holiday home equation.

Aye agree with you there about the Greeks. They just have something about them. Off to Rhodes myself for 3 weeks next Tuesday. Pet permitting. He’s decided to be ill 🙄
Not like you 😉

How many visits to Rhodes is it now? I'm up to 4. You must be nearer 44.

I've stayed in Kresmasti. The beach was poor but the resort was decent.

I think we only went to the beach once as we had a lush pool. This was a canny while ago I can’t remember the name of the aparthotel.
