Got a reply from BBC re Dawnies biased reporting

As a Mackem in exile, I find the obsession on here with Look North and in particular, Dawn Thewlis, baffling. Whether it's an actual bias or just a perceived one, bleating on about it just gives more ammo to the pricks up the road.

I can assure you it's not a perceived bias.
That said, I fully understand how as you don't have to watch this unbalanced reporting each evening, you would find the irritation of those that do, a little baffling.
Of course, we always have the option to switch off and not see any local SAFC match reports at all, a bit like you I suppose.

I had to read that twice just to check to see if they really did mention the "key stats"
Surely the key stats are the number of goals scored.
The possession stats should be sub divided into "aimless" and "productive". Perhaps we should do the same with the BBC's

After all Forest won the league as a counter attacking side.

We were the most effective team on the day.

Simple really. And most of it in single syllable words.

Fuck off man, you should be ashamed of yourself, its f***ing shocking the coverage we get locally and nationally , someone complains and you think its embarrassing, I suggest you go and crawl back up some black and white hoop

FTM
Bollocks, emailing the BBC moaning about the coverage we get FFS. Its something the mags would do, we are better than that.

That's why I said 'key stats'

They've being going on about it since. As you said the key stat is the scoreline:lol:

Why is it ok for Dawn to give 'her own view of the game' anyway?? I saw a totally (admittedly brief) unbiased review of the same game on bbc breakfast, and they didn't mention who had the most possession etc etc.

Missing the point marra, they dont get the negative press we do, or havnt you noticed?
Couldn't care less mate, let them get on with it. We've shown we don't react to stuff like that, it only makes them look stupid in the long term.

Childish i know but im fed up of her smug ways

Dear Mr Maxwell

Thanks for getting in touch about ‘Look North’ as broadcast on 26 October.

We understand you feel Dawn Thewlis’s report of the Sunderland Newcastle game was biased towards Newcastle.

The ‘Teamtalk’ section of the programme reported that Sunderland’s win over Newcastle was historic as it was the first time one team had six consecutive wins over the other. Dawn gave her own view of the game, which was that this was one of the most ‘fortuitous’ wins of the six. This view was backed up by the match statistics which showed that Newcastle had the most possession, the most shots and the most corners. However there was no denying the final result and we also gave the view of the Sunderland manager and some Sunderland fans on what they thought of Sunderland’s historic win.

We appreciate your comments about the presenter’s demeanour which we have sent to the producer of the programme.

Thanks again for taking the time to contact us.

Kind regards

David Glenday

Must be the standard reply - word for word same as mine. Biased gits. If only I could stop paying my license fee to the jordi mafia.

I didn't realise how bad it was until I checked it out on Catch up. It was embarrassing to say the least.

History will still have this recorded as a 3-0 win to SAFC.

In 5, 10, 25, 50+ years time I can't see anyone digging out the stats.

I've been to plenty of home matches -v- the mags before and since the home win in 2008 where they were dross and we should have won but they were spawny enough to hold out for a draw or snatch a win.
