Google Stadia

Will this compete with PlayStation and Xbox? Google have the ability but cannot see it.
I doubt it, but there's almost no barriers to entry, which is where it could shine. Most people have some kind of controller and decent broadband. There's loads of folk who can't be arsed paying a few hundred quid for a console but would buy the odd game.

Ordered.

I'm a bloody muppet. I hardly ever actually have time to play games but I spend a fortune on them anyway.

Its not really about the games is it? Its about having all the processing done on the server side - so any PC will be able to play at full quality.
The downside, of course, is the 20ms lag on doing this on an internet connection, rather than on the local client.
Football Manager is going to be on it. I'm defo be trialling it if it makes my game faster.
Exactly the right type of game. 20ms lag means nowt if each screen processes 5 seconds faster than on your existing machine!

Release date confirmed as November 19.

RDR2 will probably be the first game for me, though I'll struggle to resist buying Football Manager as well.

I actually have a mate who works for Google and tried it out at his place not long ago. We played Doom and Assassins Creed and it worked perfectly.

Interesting that stadia is free (upto 1080p and 10mbps), so you could use the stadia service for FM20 for nowt. Provided you buy FM20 from stadia in the first place like.

I can see them releasing the free version in January so that they can charge everyone over Xmas.
Also interesting that the UK seems to have some of (if no the) cheapest pricing.

So that's 1080p gaming for FREE on just about any computer. As long as you buy the game from their stores. Interesting.

Valve might be shitting bricks here.
