Goals condeded from corners & crosses into the box

We appear to have completely lost the plot here. Now up to nine goals conceded in this manner from the start of January.

- Waine header from a corner against Port Vale
- Evanilson header from a cross against Bournemouth
- Jimenez header (first goal) from a corner against Fulham
- van Dijk header from a corner against Liverpool
- Summerville header from a cross against West Ham
- Pino finish from a corner against Crystal Palace
- Thiago header (second goal) from a cross against Brentford
- Yarmoliuk finish from inside the six yard box from a corner against Brentford
- Davies finish from a corner against Tottenham

For a team that's supposedly physical, defensively well drilled with centre halves that win a lot of aerial battles it's becoming a bit of a problem. That one today was appalling, three times they got to the ball before we did.

Our defence is the reason we will still be playing Premier League football next season. It’s certainly not down to our goal fest performances.

We’ve got the joint fewest goals scored from corners in the PL. Giver how threatening we looked from set pieces at the start of the season that’s incredibly disappointing. We don’t score enough from open play so it’s an area we need to focus on for next season.

Didn’t Fulham score from a corner too?

Yeah mate, Jimenez's first goal. It's on that list you quoted.

Oh I absolutely 100% agree with you. But that's the problem in itself, you can't expect the defence and the keeper to constantly be playing at 8 or 9 out of 10 every week without making mistakes or a dip in form. It'll catch up to you eventually and it's happening to us now.

I would imagine you could go through every premier League club and find stats like yours I mean errors made etc etc So what how do you think we can improve?

They’re too busy wrestling with their opponents rather than marking up or watching the ball.

Aye really odd the tail off especially on the corners that was our bread and butter. Don't even look that good at attacking them either despite having some decent options

Questions gotta be asked about the new set piece coach we hired in August. Seems to be getting worse as both ends of the field.

We don’t get many corners, we don’t attack much. Think we are close to the bottom of corners won and pretty near the top of corners conceded.

Teams have cottoned on that every attacking set piece we have is aimed to Ballard, so they stick two defenders on him (one normally infront to block any run) and that nullifies us.
Our response recently seems to be to try and block one of those marking Ballard which often leads to a foul given the other way.

Aye a fair point he always gets blocked out now even on the throws. It's weird how Alderete wins loads of aerial duels but rarely seems to on set pieces

Forest clearly did their homework before tonight with that short corner then whipping it to the back post. We struggled all night with crosses into the box.
