Think Froome would beat him handily....not that far behind him in the TT and can really hurt him in the mountains.

if (peak) froome had been at this giro he would have won by 5 minutes (at least)

Would make for an exciting race though as Froome would be forced to go all out on each mountain stage to drop Dumoulin in the mountains to cover off any mechanicals/ off days in the TT. In a way it would be like the Froome v Wiggins battle which we never got to see.

Froome is also 32 now and has had no notable results this year- maybe his best days are now behind him, or maybe he is serious about holding his peak through to the end of the Vuelta- guess the Dauphine next week will tell us more. If he wins 2 GTs this year surely he'll ride the Giro next year as well to try and hold all the GTs at once, which could add another dynamic to the mix!

assuming no mechanicals or crashes then at best Tom D would have put less than a minute into Froome in total over the 2 TT's in this giro

and every mountain stage where Tom D looked good (basically a stage with only 1 major climb - Etna, Blockhaus, Oropa) are the stages where Froome is king

he crushes him - IMO

This...Froome multiple Olympic tt medallist....a tt heavy course sees him/Sky devote loads of tt training.
Not convinced Tom would take ANY time out if him against the clock.

And as for mountains, and with the team Sky historically take to the tour( remember even Movistar bemoan that they're impregnable) mean just one result.

This years results for Froone are a bit of a red herring....sure we will see the usual Dauphine improvements, Sky seem to know how to bring him to peak.
Should have really won double last year.
Suggestions that if Tour wants Dumoulin and Froone shoot out next year they will increase tt km ...if so Nairo and the likes of Aru will be worrying

2016 tdf - Tom D put 1 minute into Froome, however Froome put 2 minutes into Nairo, 2 minutes into Yates..only GC man to limit his loss to Froome was Mollema ffs who 'only' lost 50 seconds

and that was the only TT of the tour, and only 37.5km

Froome basically ignored his TT for the entire season cos it just was'nt needed

you pull out a tdf course like 2012 again and you'll not see Froome off his TT bike

perhaps with Tom D being on the scene ASO might actually bring out another course like that - be worth it just to see Nibbles, Nairo, etc cry like babies

:)

100% this....Froome virtually ignored his tt rig last year as he knew course didn't require the tt miles.
A tt heavy course as you say will see him devoting time to it.

Laugh my bell end off it ASO announce about 70 plus k of tt next year....watch Movistar then

well Dowsett would be happy

but the rest of the team, perhaps not as much

;)

I agree Froome would be favourite, just interested to see how Dumoulin would fare against him, would prefer a course to favour true all rounders who can TT as opposed to the overly climber (Quintana) friendly courses we've had recently.

If the likes of Quintana, Bardet, Pinot, Aru continue to ship minutes in TTs then they don't deserve to win the Tour de France IMO, same with the Schlecks a few years ago

Think a huge factor would be the strength of teams....let alone the fact Froone is stronger all round.

If Movistar etc bemoan the strength Sky bring to the tour Sunweb would be butchered....they're really going to have to strengthen( I know that Keldermsn was a big loss in mountains mind)

Still nowt but noise....,what wonder drug is he on ?

Guessing those UCI results when a young un( showing massive VO2 max and power...while being a lot heavier) were all Fake facts

Then again not like Piti or the likes have ever been popped......oh wait a minute ;)
