This looks like being a better race the the Tour de France this year with Quintana, Nibali, Pinot, Geraint Thomas, Adam Yates, Landa, Mollema, Zakarin, Dumoulin, Kruijswijk and Van Garderen all riding.

Difficult to see past Quintana or Nibali for the win given how hard the final week is but they could be vulnerable early on and there is a mountain top finish on Mount Etna on Stage 4.

For those without Eurosport daily highlights are on Quest at 22.00

Should be a cracker...as you say difficult to see past Quintana but will be interesting how deep he may be forced to go early on. Sure he'd like a nice easy first week but that's not going to happen.
Can see Landa coming into his own in week three for a podium, despite Thomas being in better form and TT favouring him

I really can't see Thomas not having at least one bad day in the final week unless the weather is terrible and the high altitude stages get shortened/ cancelled. Hopefully a really open and attacking race given how well matched a lot of the contenders are

Good start

Stefano Pirazzi and Nicola Ruffoni (both Bardiani) have tested positive in out of competition tests #Giro100

More surprised they didn't try and figure out Quintana's form and try and push him early on as he's going to ride himself into shape for week 3. Or that more non-GC climbers didn't go all out for the stage.

Maybe just not quite a tough enough climb....easy to say of course

The top GC contenders reckon strong headwind would have made big attacks pointless.

Sundays summit finish should deliver

Love the giro. They can all do serious amounts of bloodbags before testing season starts

What dollies are they doing?

Not got a clue....only a fool would suggests it's a clean peloton( two Bardiani riders getting busted confirms this) but the general consensus is it's far cleaner than it's been for a decade or three.
The types of attacks you previously saw are long gone. Riders won't just ride away from the peloton like they used to.

Years gone by the headwind of today wouldn't have stopped riders hammering the climb from the start
