Getting promoted - do we actually want it?

Unfortunately the PL and the money generated is designed to create a closed shop .
Every club in there bar the promoted sides will have had three consecutive years of PL money and two of them minimum will have had at least one years PL money and two years parachute money . It is an impossible task
 
I for one am looking forward to it. There is nothing to say just because the last 6 promoted teams got relegated we will. Its only 3 seasons since all 3 promoted clubs stayed up. Spin the dice imo. We will invest in a far better squad than any of those 6 teams. Make ER a cauldron and bring on the scum

Agreed.

We might not stay up, but…… I’m damn sure we’ll have good plans to give it a bloody good try. The club is too well run at the moment not to.

I was going to say we should be able to beat some lower half teams but on review the teams currently would be Man Utd, Tottenham, Everton and West Ham plus Leeds and Burnley.

So it will be tough unless we spend, spend, spend 😱
 
Lots of teams have given it a go, more than once, and eventually made it. Seems you can’t stay up first time any more, but after a couple of seasons of Prem money and parachute money you are in a far better position than a Championship plodder.
So why not us?
 
We need to get and stay amongst the Prem money. And I mean the initial injection and parachute money. The way we're run it will be a game changer. We can't compete with the likes of Burnley and Shef U because of it. If we don't go up, the players we may lose could mean it ends up being another closer than expected call at the wrong end of the table. You can't turn down the £.

On a side note. Mods all these do we actually want to go up posts need merging. It's like saying it's too early for champions league. Only a lunatic would turn it down.
 
I love this board at times. Half the time it's twisting because we can't compete with parachute payment teams.... the other half is saying we should stop down and don't next season.

Personally I want Sunderland in the PL. Will it be a tough watch, more than likely but in that first season we just need to be better than 3 teams. Simple as that.

And if we come straight back down we'll be parachute club, like we've always moaned about.
 
I'd like the initial happiness and excitement of promotion but when the days of getting beat 6-0 at home from Brentford and getting relegated with 8 points come, it will be awful.
