I'll go to Dropswell then Spug, but if it costs more than Bolam's there'll be hell on !

It doesn't man and it's on the way to Bolams anyway if you don't like it.

If there is anything you want ask behind the counter cos 9 times out of ten they will cut your steaks etc to your taste rather than have em ready cut same with chops etc.

Indeed.

But at least he'll b buying decent meat instead of the shit Bolams knock out for not much more. There a Dropswell shop in Trimdon Village now too.

If it is more expensive it's like pennies and as you say it is worlds apart quality wise.

Nipped in Bolam's cafe for a meal the other day and got roast pork and beef piled up on a plate with yorkshire pud and veg. George Bolam was piling the meat on the plate and he even asked me if I wanted more. Cannot go wrong for 4 quid.

I went in once and had the same and was offered desert aswell

Your right like £4 is for nowt, not great quality but filled a hole.

Havent been to Dropswell for a few months . The quality as Spugs say is immense but I would say maybe 15% most expensive than a supermarket - but well worth it

I disagree mate. I got 8 rashers of back bacon yesterday for £2.60. I'd like to see Tesco beat that AND the rashers don't shrink to the size of a lamb chop when they're in the pan.

I would not say it is any more expensive than a supermarket like.

As I said it been a while since I was there - the missus( no) isnt a big fan of meat but I was in the area - Got a couple of rump steaks for about £11 iirc where as I have bought similar from Morrisons for around a tenner . Thats said Dropswell were a different class

Me mam once brought some bbq stuff down from Bolams and it was utter shite. The fat in that so called meat had my bbq a raging inferno:evil:

Dunno what the price per kilo is but I bet it isn't any different to Morrisons.

I heard a rumor that Morrisons get their meat from Bolams?

Do you ever use Hodgsons fishmongers on Whitby St, absolutely class shop.

Its a great shop, they can't do enough for ya and always have a good selection of sea veg anarl.

Why would a bucher open on a Saturday when the Sunday roast is probably a main (or the main) source of his income? It doesn't make any sense, does it?
