Can play multiple positions but isn't the best player in the squad at any of them. Would happily have him at the club to fill in but they probably feel they can get someone in to do a similar job without spending £20m. It's a shame like cos I think he'd get into a fair few Prem first XI's, probably hasn't been the same since the Liverpool interest. Cracking tackle to save the points against the Mags though, no hard feelings

Not as a finished article no but the club might've identified a young player they can bring in and give minutes to and develop for a fraction of the price. Or might be savvy and use the loan market rather than paying big money for a 'squad player'
 
Seemed like a no brainer we’d sign him at one point. Even the away derby he was class. Can’t understand why we haven’t used him more (other than some potential fee incurred)

RLB in the Shields gazette yesterday said they haven't made any decisions over his future and all possibilities are still on the table.

Agreed but IMO, he has been left out of the side behind far inferior options (Hume at RB and O'Nien at CB).

Can completely understand why he's not sticking around as it's not as if he's being kept out of the side by players that anyone being honest can say are actually better than him.
 
Mukile is without argument our best RB. Struggling to see what Geertruida has done that Hume hasn’t. Tbh, I think people are too easily wowed by a foreign international over a player signed in L1 for a small fee. Hume has been brilliant this season, has a much higher sell on and is therefore better as a squad option behind Mukiele than spending £20m on one.

It’s mad like we’ve not even seen the best of him either. Probably arguments he’s better than Hume at every position but it’s been clear all season he wasn’t going to be staying. Shame I think it’s a missed opportunity to get a proven versatile players for what in modern terms is next to nowt.
 
Keep seeing he’s so versatile but is being bang average in 3 positions a positive?
He’s made 25 appearances for SAFC and got a half decent 45 minutes at the mags to show for it…

Must be something up, obviously he must have been decent enough at Feyenoord but Leipzig have bombed him out after a handful of games and the same has happened here

Love to see how many of those are starts and how many games he was given in a row. Like all players they need game time and a few consistent games. Feels he’s been tossed in when needed done a decent job then back to the bench arguably for lesser players starting ahead of him. It’s felt from the off he wasn’t in our long term plans so I’m guessing he’s had that feeling too and his game time seems to show that. Not sure how his stop start time here was meant to get the best out of him. Would it any player?.

Not easy coming in and out of the side. Thought he was excellent v them lot then bizarrely got dropped.

In no world should Hume ever be starting games at RB ahead of him, and as for O'Nien starting games at CB ahead of him, the less said, the better.

A massive shame really as we'll not get near someone who can cover 3 positions at PL level for the £18m.
