See aboveCan you remember which one it was mate?
Is that not what RLB said we had?My understanding, and I could be wrong, is that that it’s for deals with obligations not options

Maybe 30 is the trigger number. He’s played 27 times. I can’t see 28 being the trigger number
Tommy Watson?
Would explain why he's still on the bench in case of 'emergency'...Maybe 30 is the trigger number.
Be interesting if he doesn't play against Man United if he then appears in the next twoWould explain why he's still on the bench in case of 'emergency'...
Well if it’s an obligation then we have to sign him.Is that not what RLB said we had?
It’s wild ain’t it, if you told me in the summer we’d barely use a Dutch international that can cover centre back right back and midfield and have said f***ing hell are we in the top four or something. It’s just one of those head scratches ain’t it.Criminally underused.
A massive shame as £18m for someone with his quality and versatility is not going to be found elsewhere.
Some of us have been banging this drum since early in the season.

When £3m is at stake for every position you finish higher I wouldn’t call it pointless.Probs cost us a few quid, he’s a good player but obvs ain’t staying. Pointless playing him now
Ah ok. Wonder if they’ll still buy him then.It is.
Le Bris was asked about this in a press conference a couple weeks ago and said that his appearances were being 'managed' because of the clause.
It might have been the pre - Villa presser, maybe the embargoed section... can't remember exactly.
I do remember it was Barnes asking the questions.
Like Tommy Watson - and we are all grateful for that final appearanceOnce a player is away (if it's 100% sure) I wouldn't want to give them minutes in my team, unless they were head and shoulders above the others I had available.
Unless their name is Tommy Watson. He was the best player on the pitch the last game he started.

Only if he makes the required number of appearances though which is a reason not to play him if we don't wish to sign him.Well if it’s an obligation then we have to sign him.
I don’t know what the contract says, you could well be rightOnly if he makes the required number of appearances though which is a reason not to play him if we don't wish to sign him.
I mean, if we finish 4 places higher and are forced to spend 18 million on a player we dont want then it could be considered a bot of a false economy. When £3m is at stake for every position you finish higher I wouldn’t call it pointless.
Apart from the fact that players and fans will want to finish the season well
He was already struggling for game time prior to the Jan window.
The only explanation, is that he has expressed a wish to move on at the end of the campaign, and both parties have agreed to manage his appearances to avoid triggering the clause. It’s wild ain’t it, if you told me in the summer we’d barely use a Dutch international that can cover centre back right back and midfield and have said f***ing hell are we in the top four or something. Our strongest back 4 should not contain Hume or O’Nien with our current squad. Again not a dig of either player I like them both but 5 players are better than themThat is absolutely the case, but what are we going to learn about O’Nien or Hume that we don’t already know? Geertruida was a loan signing for a season and he’s possibly a better CB than O’Nien and RB than Hume. I’d play him as I think he’s the better option.
Not having a go at Hume or O’Nien with this post mind as I like them both, but we know what they’re are and where their limitations lie.
