Geertruida

He’s practically picked the same team and formation all season only changed due to injuries what ya on about
Not the 'out of possession' formation. Against tough opposition e.g. Chesea away, we went 5 at the back defending instead of 4. Sometimes it's only for the last part of the game to see it out - eg Chelsea home last of the season.

(Though Chelsea didn't prove that tough after all)
Who's ND within our squad?

Nor Di?

That generally stays the same though. Hume would be the RM to drop to RB to make a 5 in settled defence. It's almost always him

Definitely agree about going 5 during matches, I've said it a million times in the match thread explaining why Hume gets game time in certain matches

When the players were in the huddle at the end of the Chelsea match waiting to see if we'd qualified for Europe Geertruida was going absolutely mental when it was confirmed. He'd always come across as a bit dour and serious but he was jumping round like a loon when he heard the news. Hopefully he's staying because he's a quality player

I noticed that too. Geertruida was ecstatic.

Only reason I can think of for not extending the option is that maybe we've got someone else lined up as a major target. The Liverpool link will have been flattering - but that seemed to be down to Slot knowing him from Feyenoord. But Slot's been sacked.

I think Mukiele is an excellent right-back and it would be a marginal call to choose between Mukiele and Geertruida in that position. However, Geeretruida's presence enables us to have Mukiele at centre-back, where he also excels. Having both in the team seems to work admirably. Given Heertruida's own abilities at centre-back, the two can interchange and cover for one another during games. I think the potential for the development of an excellent partnership on the right-hand side of defence is there in the making.
It also means we wouldn't need to buy another centre half, which we otherwise need.

Perhaps there had been a conversation of him being bought by us based on qualification for Europe.?
But i think either whether he stays or not he has enjoyed his time here and has really enjoyed the team spirit. There is a great blend of nationalities and personalities in our squad

He's in the Netherlands squad today wearing the no.2 shirt. Koeman letting him know he's still an important member of the squad, unfortunately for him they have too many world class RB's at the moment.
