Geertruida

Shoe horn ??? He’s a Dutch international chased by top team in England who would you rather lose Hume or him ? We are stronger with mukilele centre back he gives us pace there

We are stronger with Mukiele right back both in one on one defensive situations and he's the only one who has the pace to break lines and contributes regularly to our stodgy attacking play as our wingers generally aren't good enough.

I like Geertruida but he isn't as good a defender as Ballard or Mukiele and when I've seen him at right back he's hasnt got the pace to recover a bit like Hume.

geertruida has a decent goalscoring record for a defensive player mind, and from what I've seen he has been at his best in midfield.

There's a good chance Sadiki gets sold for huge money in summer too, he's be handy to have

Yeah it was Hume letting the lad go, Mukiele didn’t do much wrong positionally

Tbf the two attackers switched/blocked each other which meant staying tight and goal side of Summerville was nigh on impossible
I was amongst the crowd in the home end so might not have had such a good view of it. I apologise to Mukiele if i'm being unduely harsh, but it isn't the first time he's let an attacker get goal side of him. He also kept tucking in when Hume wasn't dropping back and it allowed Summerville to have alnost the entire right hand side of the pitch to himself for the first half.

I don’t think Summerville gets goal side. Hume is marking him, loses him, then he gets the run on Mukiele

As I said, in Hume’s defence the two attackers switch over, meaning he could not stay tight AND goal side of Summerville. One or the other. It’s good movement

What you’ve described is what I don’t like about the morphing formation. It happened v Chelsea too for Garnacho’s goal. Unless every player “switches” at the right time, there’s often a big gap at right back during a transition

I like Geertruida- he's a good footballer and I've liked him in midfield. But he's not in our best defence.

At centre back he had a tendancy to overplay or let the ball bounce in an attempt to bring it down, which he got caught out on a few times. I like him in midfield and he should have been playing more recently, but if Sadiki is sold he would need to be replaced more directly.

Mukiele gives us an edge at right back coming forward that Hume or Geertruida don't provide - even if both are generally quite good on the ball.

I'd certainly want to make his transfer permanent like.
Funny, Geertruida looks quicker than Hume to me

Don't think there's much in it. Both Geertruida and Hume can look isolated when ran at, Geertruida hasn't got pace. He's a lot stronger than Hume.

I agree I think he's stronger as defensive midfielder and as a right back.

Deffo Hume juts decided to swap man and let Summerville waltz into the box all he had to do is block his path so couldn’t get a run on mukilele

The sort of deal I'm perhaps a little surprised we haven't really done (other than Ta Bi). 7 figure deals on young promising players who count as U21 for at least the 26/27 season. We could do with making sure we have a bit of succession already in the club. I guess that even these deals get inflated by January though.

Could be true, but must be a reason why he broke into the Netherlands squad after scoring 8 times in a season from RB at Feyenoord and Liverpool wanted him as a RB. Got into a great position to score just minutes after getting to RB away at Forest.
I would like to see him play a bit there in the reminder of this season.

We've done it twice with Ta Bi and Ellborg. This guy could be the 3rd.

Forgot about the keeper - albeit he doesn’t count as u21.

If he stops trying, there's no way he'll get in the team, and we'll not bother wasting our money on him.
Other than having to pay his wages we haven't lost anything. Allowing him to go to Liverpool would have meant we'd lost a good player.
Fingers crossed he gets his head down and proves himself. Liverpool may lose interest, and we sign a good player
Well we would. If he doesn't play, we have lost a player, who we are paying.

1 pen and 4 from corners. Eredivsie in an extremely attacking side is obviously going to elevate stats. Goal record everywhere else is nothing to speak of. He absolutely doesn't get in at right back before Mukiele and he doesn't displace Ballard.

Lets be honest - Liverpool want him as cover. If the manager rated him that highly hed have gone after him during the summer before he came here.

Which leads me to believe he's playing there again tonight

It's probably not a bad thing against passive sides as it might allow a bit more freedom to others. He also still played 50% more progressive passes against West Ham than Mundle, despite having a stinker 😀

West Ham were allover us and we were too weak centrally and also Fulham it just hasn't worked. I'd rather not see it so often. Wheel it out occasionally or against better sides when we retract into a back 5.
