Geertruida

We might not have stood in his way if (a) we owned him, (b) Liverpool offered a decent fee to buy him off us and (c) we had time to get replacements in.

Not sure why we'd accommodate when there's next to nothing in it for us and it also weakens us.

Was more thinking along the lines of future perception for signings and that he got no (or little) game time when he looked like a shoe in for a start/lines. Makes the lack of game time stranger for me. I think maybe the narrative on why could be a bit off. Not that it matters, I'm pleased he is staying. He is useful in numerous positions.

Almost as if we’re not the absolute pushover that some of our own fans think we are…

Presently he’s a Ballard or Mukiele injury away from being our starting full back and he’s currently our best holding midfielder with Xhaka out.

Can’t blame the lad, he’s come in and probably thought ‘I’ll get in here, no problem’ and the lads we’ve had in the Championship/brought in have raised the bar.

He has to raise his game, last week’s a misnomer, Hume’s performed well up till now, this move might’ve been in the works…

Let’s see him perform tomorrow, I’m sure everyone will forget this back and forth if he does…

Ah another casual £60m dropped on a signing to go along with:

Isak: £125m
Wirtz: £115m
Ekitike: £80m
Van Dijk: £75m
Allison: £65m
Nunez: £65m
Szoboszlai: £60m
Konate: £50m
Mane: £40m
Fabinho: £40m
Gakpo: £40m

Just how can the socialist reds ever hope to compete? Remember Jurgen saying they cannot compete with Man Citys oil money and Slot moaning about his small squad depth
going on for £800m that lot. 😳

Few reports on social media saying it was Xhaka and some of the other players that convinced him to stay.

Whatever the reason, its good news for us that he's staying.
For “Few reports on social media” read “Some people have made up the fact that”

So Liverpool have agreed a deal for a 60M right back in the summer.

In reality they weren’t going to pay 10 million odd in compensation and a loan fee plus wages for 18 games.

With that pending I doubt it would also suit Geertruide in terms of certainty about his future.

All in all I doubt it was just our plans that stopped it but probably Liverpool and his personal future prospects.

Some of those idiots on their message board slagging their board off implying they knew they wouldnt be able to sign Gertruida but it would at least look like they tried...now they're getting a player in for 60m, after spending 250m in the summer

The so called supporters of these "elite" clubs are truly pathetic and wouldnt know hardship if it slapped them in the face.

Pretty certain someone said that he was 11th in number of minutes played for us this season so he's played a lot more than most think. Certainly makes his lack of minutes in the last three games even more surprising and difficult to fathom out.

He is however can understand why rlb has persisted with Hume as he is progressing all the time. The West ham game tho was absolutely an absolute crazy set up with gx missing and gerty on the bench.
And a sort of orthodox 4-4-2 with Mukiele still tucking in as a third centre back like he expected cover but with Hume not dropping back to cover. It was pretty shit.

Issue with that is you're moving our best and most dangerous wide attacking player to centre half.
Could potentially changd tge right hand side around. Mukuele was awful laat week though. And the smallest player on the pitch got goal sode of him and beat him in the air. He has a lot of credit in the bank but it doesnt really seem fair that everyone is dropping hume after a terrible game and mukiele gers away with it.
