Geertruida

This point was made on a podcast a while ago when people talked about finding a Xhaka replacement/back up.

Where do you find someone of or near that level who is happy to sit on the bench most weeks. It’s very difficult.
You cant expect them to do that. You're not going to find a like for like replacement for Xhaka long term without either breaking the bank or just getting one in when he leaves in the same mould and about the same age.

Bottom line is he's not our player and if we are not taking up the option to buy, Leipzig can sell him...
They can’t unless we agree there’s no break clause in the deal so it’s not as simple as that. We will be getting something in return let’s just hope we sort something out coming in or we are looking short especially no knowing the extent of Xhaka yet.

There's a chance that even if he'd played every minute he'd still want to go to Liverpool.
Absolutely, but I do think his lack of starts will be a factor especially in a World Cup year. Same as Wilson seemingly getting itchy feet, few players are happy to be subs

That’s not a criticism of anyone by the way they’re been kept out by other players but I do think it shows people’s naivety when they think we can have equal quality players happily sitting on the bench

People on this board think the management team just sit around doing Sudoku’s all day and then go in to panic mode when the phone rings??

Ffs!!
I think for some, its the fact that its come very late in the window and will likely mean clubs making us pay extortionate prices, whether in transfer or loan fees, because they know we'll be wanting someone in with this news coming out.
