Geertruida

Bizarre as fuck. Just make it mandatory. Then sell. Not sure how it works would the player have to agree ?
It'll come down to the player wanting to sign or not, regardless of a pre-sale agreement with his parent club..

Don’t get how the opportunity was presented to Liverpool? Fair enough if they wanted him and asked Leipzig but they are suggesting he’s been offered on loan to Liverpool bizarre.

Get the bedsheets oot, social media capaign comparing to a rodent or other pest etc etc.

Really glad that this isnt the general theme to how our fans are reacting to news that a decent player might want to move to a top club. We'll be a step up for players, no doubt. As a result of them doing well for us - and hopefully with a decent financial arrangement for our club - and we move on. And players will come to us from less successful clubs in the same way.

Hopefully, if it does happen, the there are plans in place to manage the impact. I've got faith our current management will manage to do this, most (probably not all) of the time.

Interesting that Ben Jacob’s has tweeted that the opportunity was brought to Liverpool. Maybe it was us pushing it cos it seems RLB doesn’t fancy him. Surely someone lined up.

I think it’s the form of Hume initially that prevented Geertruida getting a regular starting spot in the side. The club were ruthless in replacing a lot of last seasons promotion winning side and I’d imagine they thought an international fullback would soon replace Hume at right back.

Hume’s good form made him pretty much undroppable so Geertruida has had to contend with bit parts here and there covering for injuries, players away at AFCON etc.

In a World Cup year there’s no surprise a player on loan would explore his options and as others have said when Liverpool come calling with a manager the player knows …..
Humes done ok, he’s stepped up really well, but he’s far from undroppable imo

It was reported when we signed him that we had a buy option, but we didn't actually announce that.

Compare that to Isidor - we did announce the buy option when we signed him on loan.

So we may actually have no such option. Leipzig would likely have a recall option in that case, in which case they can recall him and sell him or loan him on to Liverpool and there's nothing we can do about it.

No sympathy with clubs who rely on borrowing other clubs players then discover they can't control what happens because he's not their player.

I think this has been in the pipeline for a little while, hence staying on tbd bench / not getting selected
