Fulwell Sainsbury's closing

It will need to be up and running soon before they announce the closure of the bigger competitor down at the sea front. Otherwise there will be murder on in the Post Office queue when Beryl can’t get her groceries in her shopping trolley.

Shocking in there lately like, Manager told me it was scheduled for a refurb at Easter obv talking out his ass.

Grim outside. Flowerbeds are filled with weeds. Guttering is blocked with growth and when it rains the water just runs straight over the edge instead of down a drain pipe.
Just like inside all the leaking freezers, wouldn’t buy anything from there freezers, defrost/freeze repeat.

Think we all understand they will be renegotiating their lease at Morrisons but how long does that take, and in the meanwhile customers putting up with a sub standard shopping experience. As others have said, the store is in poor disrepair, is grubby inside and leaves you feeling the food quality could also be suffering as a result. Seems very likely there was another land grab planned for more housing. If the Fulwell offer improves, the argument may be stronger to manage with a much smaller Morrisons store at Seaburn. Or, flatten it and put houses on it.

Morrison's don't own the store?

All Morrisons are like that mind, one in Jarrow constantly has issues with there freezers on the shop floor leaking like and completely freezing owa.

I used to be a driver for Warburtons, so see what there like in the warehouse in the back of them. Worst stores I’ve seen, absolutely nil investment to them suprised they haven’t went under tbf.

It won't be money related but more likely the store does well. Killingworth which used to be their flagship store up this way is in a similar dire state. Both have pretty much no competition nearby and people aren't going to be doing full shops at a convenience store.

Some apartments on the east/south facing sides would be nice. Four stories high with sea facing views. If they were two-bedroom we'd look at downsizing and getting one. We don't want to move out of the area but there's nowt round here to tempt us to sell up our current place.

Just been down my mothers who lives off sea road, she was in herons this morning and was talking to the builders when she come out and they reckon its opening (tesco) around 20th August

Was down that way today and the cashpoint has been re-installed, front car park all tarmac'd - still needs the shop front installing

great - was talking to my mother yesterday and she was saying it was either today or tomorrow...she will be happy
it looked like the cash point wasn't turned on yet. I was talking to a guy working there who is splitting his time between there and Maxwells until Maxwells closes, so I think it's really good they are doing that. Plus since it's a small shop it doesn't have to follow the stupid Sunday trading rules, it's open 6-11 everyday.
