Going over old ground but yes severity of punishment way over the top especially ban on England games.Back at that time even before this happened I was very critical of David Harker so on the whole we did have to accept some responsibility and punishments but it was hard to accept the severity of it. I'm hearing that taking test matches off Yorkshire would finish them off...... Erm.... Well if that's the case then their finances need looking into as they're clearly financially in bother.... Will they though??? Of course not. Durham were shafted and my understanding is we still can't host test matches yet Yorkshire got a winter ban when cricket isn't played for a massive racism scandal. It's very poor all round but as a Durham fan I'm livid at the comparisons. The ECB have basically given the green light to allow racism within the game. The scandal at Yorkshire was deep rooted and appalling.... No punishment from the ECB. Just says to me they're content for it to carry on
Harker I believe was just out of his depth when it started going pear shaped but I will always say it was Leach who gave the go ahead to " spend spend spend" after Midgley had run the budget as if we where still in the minor counties.
But this decision by the ECB on Yorkshire with effectively no further action provided you don't mess up again is shocking.
