It won't be 15 players short by the start of the season. Unless of course you think we are going to sign absolutely nobody and not give any of the young 'uns a chance.
You're the one saying that you are sick of comments like we are 15 players short. It has fuck all to do with the players who have gone so stop crying

What the fuck are you slavvering on about. It has nothing to do with the players who have gone? Were none of them responsible for us getting relegated - twice!

Agreed, except for Keane who is my favorite manager of ours in my lifetime because if the way he saw, talked about and acted in regard to SAFC. Respected us more than any other.

Excited to see what Ross does.

Roy Keane had an aura because he was Roy Keane. He had achieved everything in the game so when he said Sunderland is a big club and that he was impressed by the fans and the potential, it meant something because he knew what a big club really looks like from the inside. When he demanded high standards you knew it was because he knew first hand what really high standards are - playing the game of your life to get your team to the Champions League final even though you’ll be suspended and won’t be able to play. He knew a thing or two about great managers because he’d played for Ferguson and Clough.

I loved his time here and I wouldn’t swap him for anyone else for the job we had on back then. On the other hand, he did spend a lot to get where he did, and his aura came more from Keane the player than Keane the manager. I still think he’s got it in him to be a very good manager though, see what happens.

Ross on the other hand, doesn’t have the same kind of reputation. But he could turn out to command respect and have an “aura” that stems purely from his managerial ability. We’ll have to wait and see. He could turn out to be just another middling manager and it not work out. But he does have something, because his last two management jobs he’s taken clubs up and got more out of whatever he had. That quality, we definitely need. That energy is important because it rubs off on everyone. Reid had it, and Keane had it for different reasons. We’ve all seen Sunderland teams run out that had that spark, because they were managed by that kind of person, and we’ve all seen Sunderland teams run out that didn’t have that spark because they weren’t.

Jack Ross has it, im going with my gut feeling and Ross has it. Roy Keane talked a good game but in my opinion he came short. He lived off his reputation, jack Ross is going to be special

How f***ing thick are you...we're talking about now. This conversation has fuck all to do with players who have gone. They are of no consequence whatsoever to the fact that we are short of players now.

A mate of mine is a die hard St Mirren fan. Asked him for his assessment, in particular whether any manager could have had them promoted etc. This was his reply:

"You will not regret this appointment. He is a great manager. And if he wants to sign Stevie Mallan from Barnsley reserves let him get on with it. He's a great creative midfielder and dead ball deliverer who was appallingly underused during the Barnsley melt-down.

We are a well run club but we still have no money. In his 18 months, Jack didn't pay a single transfer fee, had to let last year's best player (Mallan) leave and this year's (Morgan) leave as well (albeit back to us on loan until the league was won). He benched the league's surprising top scorer (Reilly) at Christmas to bring in a new striker (Mullen) who was less surprising but more likely to score without the element of surprise. Oh, and Mullen came initially on a fee free pre contract followed by an accepting the inevitable from...... Livingston who, even without him, ended up second to us in the league.

He thinks strategically, is great with the fans, and reads the game in play brilliantly. Of all the Saints managers I've seen, the only comparator appropriate is Alex Ferguson.

And, finally, he's chosen cleverly with you. A play off place is par, a promotion better and a title, barring relegation, a guarantee of another two years whatever.

He could have gone to Ipswich and hung about mid table until they got bored. He didn't.

He will have a project with your team. I wish him well."

I was slightly critical of the appointment yesterday but after I've slept on it I haven't half warmed to it, I was expecting a bigger name but we've been down that route many times before and gone backwards, looking forward to seeing what he can do now.

What difference does it make how many players we are short before the end of May? We will have a full squad of players to choose from in August. You would twist on 21.

That's exactly what they said they were lookin for in the podcast on Monday. He could be a turkey but we should just give him our backing him and give him a chance
and who ever the lad brings in , remember it could be massive changes the team will need to gel , so we need a settling in period

Night and day as far as I am concerned. Grayson was and always will be a bluffer. I was angry and disappointed last year when we gave him the job as it reeked of a lack of ambition. He was far too starry eyed about SAFC to demand anything which is why he got the job.

This lad is on the up, hopefully we can do that together.

I'm happy not to trust anyone currently at the club and to let this lad judge players on his own merit. We've been so bad for so long we need a change.

Not in terms of the reaction from fans though. Every manager is appointed with great enthusiasm - I get that but I just hope people aren't building it up too much and may end up disappointed.

Excited at his appointment, but nowhere near the spunktastic feeling when Rodwell is sacked.

If Bain and Rodwell are fired in the same week then Don and Charlie should be given the freedom of the City. Not sure I can remember two more useless twats than the former CEO and whatever it is that Rodwell did at the club.

I would put you on ignore but there is something rather satisfying in watching you making an arse of yourself on here on a daily basis.
Aye mate...clearly satisfied

I’m gutted that a thick hysterical cunt has considered putting me on ignore

The irony of you calling me hysterical when you are the one who is seeping diorraeh from your oversized Y-fronts at the thought of the size of our squad.
