Frank Lampard - manager rumours

Not 1 journalist has said anything, that's really odd as whenever rumours started about other candidates they jumped on them straight away.

My guess is the club has asked them to keep quiet until it's announced later.
My guess is the mock up of the announcement happened earlier and everyone is so desperate for this shambles to actually end that it's grown legs despite being completely untrue

Lampard has been a big name player and a mediocre manager.

I am hate the way our club is being run. The cynic in me tells me that Lampard is a simply a big footballing name brought that will be brought in to pacify our fan base.

But look at it this way, the club are not prepared to spend money. We are looking people that are out of contract to avoid compensating other clubs.

And let's face it, Lampard is that wealthy he could work for nowt. I suspected he will be on low wages, but that's a shot to nothing to him, especially if finally make his name in management by doing something here.

Sad thing, I would take him. It's either him or an unproven manager trying his hand.
To be honest after the way last season turned out a mediocre manager would be an upgrade

I think its a great appointment personally so therefore cant see it being true.

Would be good for our English core, especially for our central midfielders to develop. The likes of Rigg, Neil and Bellingham would learn loads.

People say he was shite at Everton but the PL is a different beast, Its hard to implement any kind of style and be successful nevermind with a team full of stiff plumbers he had at Everton who were already on the slide.

Done canny at Chelsea first time round finishing 4th and a cup final, they were shocking under him last time in his interim spell but they were a complete basket case, Only Poch in the last month or two managed to put them on the straight and narrow.

It would also elevate our profile again slightly, I would much rather take a punt on him and hope he builds something than some of the dross previously mentioned.
Everton are an absolute basket case of a club as well, have been for years now not to mention all the off field issues. Even Mr Reliable gravel gob himself has struggled to keep them up or above 17th.

my sunderland glass has been drained empty by years of poor appointments, its not even half empty let alone half full...
Thing is where any appointment is concerned mate, there is a risk. And truthfully absolutely nobody can predict how it will go. Some managers just fit and work at certain clubs and others don’t, so it’s always a gamble. We’ve appointed ‘safe’ options like O’Neill, Moyes, Advocaat and it’s still went tits up. Meanwhile we’ve appointed people nobody wanted in a million years (Mowbray) and they’ve turned out canny. He would deserve a chance, he seems a good bloke at the very least.

It’s all about the players IMO. Mowbray wasn’t a tactical genius, he just created an environment where they could express themselves without fear plus he had an absolute magician in Amad.

Lampard doesn’t need to be great he just needs to be equipped with the right squad. Look at Keane, Reid etc.

He might be a total disaster but given the other names mentioned, can anybody categorically state that any of them could get a tune out of the current squad.

The worst part of this remain the process, regardless of appointment. It’s pot luck at this point no matter who we appoint, and probably exactly the same with the players we are going to sign.
