This always happens when you sign someone from abroad and don't actually play them.

People talk about time to adjust and settling in, etc, but that doesn't happen unless they are actually playing.

When they are kicking their heels on the bench they just become homesick and disillusioned. They lose their confidence and the club loses confidence in them, before they've even had a run of games.

English football is only a part of it. A small part of it in many cases. Adapting to England, the culture, language, weather etc is much bigger for south americans than it is for e.g. scandys.

Yes these things are all important to keeping a player happy and settled in the long term, but they make next to no difference to their ability to play football.

Scocco won't be any more capable of playing in English football in six months time because he's figures out how to submit his electricity metre reading and come to realise the English weather is hight variable in May.

The only thing that will help him adapt his game is playing.

Unhappiness at not playing will completely outweigh anything gained from adapting to English culture off the field.

Until Wickham's very recent turn of form we haven't had any striker play even half decent all season long.When this lad joined in January,we were crying out for someone and if he'd have been even half ready,he'd have walked into the team. Fact is,even with little or no alternatives he's only made the bench. I'm struggling to recall more than one clever intelligent pass or move he's made when he has come on. He's spent most of the time falling over. He looks miles off the pace.Iirc he's got a deal until the summer of 2017. He came with a great reputation.......he doesn't need to talk ,he needs to deliver.
