Forthcoming gigs.

Just done back to back festivals Truck & YNot, standouts were Nothing but thieves who were brilliant headlining last friday, really fresh sounding and up for it after a year off, Fat Dog, Prodigy and Madness were all class as well. I really wasnt arsed about Madness till they started and i started getting emotional at some of the old tunes i didnt even know i liked. The soundtrack of my life going right back to when i left school early 80's, Real quality. Biggest surprise was Primal Scream, Bobby Gillespie really went for it despite looking like he'd just been dug up, classic set. Other than those, lots of drum and bass & Indie discos with Oasis on every ten minutes, the young 'un's really love this second coming malarkey, fair play to them, no trouble anywhere.

Oasis are incredibly popular with my teen kids and their mates.

Fair play to them, the music has really stood the test of time

Self Esteem doing a night in the Heed Glasshouse, before her Newcastle City Hall gig...

...speaking of...

...I have listed a ‪Self Esteem ticket for sale, for the sold out Newcastle City Hall gig (Thursday 18 September). Face value, in the stalls:

Train down to London in the morning to see Mogwai + Lankum at Crystal Palace Bowl on Thursday. Just found out that The Twilight Sad are on the bill, as are The Yummy Fur.
I know that The Yummy Fur are playing at Poprecs on Friday, so I hope that they get a decent crowd there.

Saw the play
Wilko: Love and Death and Rock 'n' Roll tonight.
Well worth seeing if it goes on tour nationwide.
The guy who played Wilko was brilliant in looks, mannerisms and speech.
The actors were also musicians who each played a member of feelgood, playing their hits and were joined on stage by the doctor who saved him from his tumour.
Wilko's son and Norman Watt-roy did a couple of songs with them.

There was a feature on our news tonight, the Cancer Surgeon/Photographer who was a good friend of Wilko's and disagreed with his diagnosis is from Cheltenham and called Charlie Chan.

He recommended a visit to his friend in Cambridge who carried out the surgery removing the melon or oven ready chicken size tumour, you can guess whose description is which.
😀

Next week going for a right old trip down memory lane. Could be cheesy AF but I predict still good for a laugh.

Flock of Seagulls (never saw them before)
Big Country (what’s left of them)
Icicle Works - (McNabb and the original bass player)
Vapors (saw them support The Jam at NCH in 1979 Setting Sons tour)
Belouis Some - one or two hit wonder ‘Imagination’ - not expecting a long set!
General Public
China Crisis
Peter Godwin (who?)
Josie Cotton (who?)

This isn’t a weekend festival it’s one night starting at 6 pm so I dunno how they’re all going to get on. I’ll report back if anyone’s interested.

He was actually in the play taking photos of the band and also took part in the aftershow Q&A along with the producer, Simon, Wilko's son and Norman W-R.
Wilko was certainly a 'One Off'

A quiet time of year for me on the gig front. The Lathums up next weekend at Bootleg Social in Blackpool which is a small venue and a postponed album launch gig from earlier this year. I bought a ticket for their last UK gig of 2025 at Liverpool Olympia today which will be my fourth Lathums gig of 2025.

Sure it was the Lathums playing when I was in Tesco today. Can’t be good!
