Forthcoming gigs.

Just googled it, cos I’d never heard of it before. Is the spaces similar size to the Grove?
Yeah, the venue might be a handful of people smaller than the Grove, but S&SC is much better (easy access to the bar(s) 👀). Had the pleasure of seeing Rozi Plain there when it first(ish) opened, and then Maximo Park testing their set out for their last tour.

Juanita Stein @ The Cluny. Nice, intimate gig - only about 20 or so, people in attendance. The Cluny itself was absolutely dead.

Only one mention of Sunday from the band 🙄, think she took the hint when no-one cheered.
From The Howling Bells??? If so, bugger - I quite fancied that too. She has a really nice voice. How was it?

I think this is the 3rd location for Star & Shadow. Never went to the previous one but saw some good gigs at their first place (Laetita Sadier, Richard Dawson, Ichi).

Yes! She was excellent, nice soft/indie/atmospheric rock - really easy on the ears.

She didn't do anything from Howling Bells, but did mention that her and her brother had released an album, in honour of her late father, who wrote the songs, but passed before he could record them properly, so I'll be checking that out soon.

It was the old Academy..it was 16 years ago tomorrow!!
I know what you mean about bands sticking to classics like. Similar for a lot of old punk and ska bands really. I don't mind some of the newer stuff SLF have done but equally would be happy if they stuck to just early songs, ie anything up to 1982. I remember the Mayfair in 1987 and the next couple of times after that when they hadn't started writing new songs so set was all classics. Saw the Pistols at Finsbury Park in 1996 and they were about the only one of the old punk bands who didn't bother writing new material after reforming

Anyone planning to see The Nightingales at Think Tank in May...it has been cancelled/postponed due to one of the band having medical treatment in April requiring three months recuperation.

C2C weekend was fabulous, saw some great entertainers and Cody Johnson was absolutely outstanding 🤠 🍻 🎶

Mate is taking me to see Esprit d’Air next Monday, never heard of them but I’ll go with an open mind, but at £4 a ticket there’s nowt to lose.

Iggy booked for May in Manchester.
Support act Joe and the shit boys
Found something I wrote from a few years ago at End Of The Road:

EOTR is a lovely, chilled, friendly affair though the music covers a very broad spectrum with opening act, Joe & The Shit Boys, a 'bisexual, vegan punk band from the Faroe Islands', setting the tone with their 30 second songs all seeming to be about 'people who piss me the fuck off'.

Sorry, don't think they are in the video, it was just for whoever I was writing to.

Saw them a couple of years ago - they were OK, a bit Modern Metalish. The singer/guitarist is in Sisters of Mercy. I actually went for the support act Diamond Black, who also included a guitarist from Sisters of Mercy who were more of a commercial Goth sort of band. They have supported them a couple of times but don`t know if they are dong this tour.

you've got me scratching my head now

only other one i can think of, is the one that was opposite the tanners
That was the one I was thinking was the first place. I'm probably confusing the period where there was a temporary closure for there being an another venue.

Looking at Stockton Calling, not many recognisable acts. Anyone done it before, good day out?

Did waves and really enjoyed it, don’t really know Stockton that well.
