Just seen Donny McCaslin is playing North Shields the day we play Oxford on 26th October. He played sax on Blackstar so it’d be a real treat for any Bowie fans to see him and his band so close to home.

The extended version of Sue from that album is one of my absolute favourite pieces of music.

Support is Kevin Armstrong as well, who was Bowie's guitarist at Live Aid and elsewhere (and also played with Prefab Sprout). He was great at the Lust For Life gig at the Exchange a while back.

SLUG The brainchild of Sunderland’s Ian Black, SLUG blends influences from The Flaming Lips, ZZ Top, John Carpenter, and Don Cherry into a wild, eclectic sound.

Jeremy Warmsley – Performing his first-ever Newcastle gig, Jeremy Warmsley brings his rich history of indie pop from his solo career and his work with Summer Camp. Having toured with Regina Spektor and The Shins, Jeremy’s emotional, melodic sound is sure to captivate.

Nano Kino – Led by Sarah Suri and Duncan Lloyd (Maximo Park), Nano Kino creates dream-like soundscapes inspired by Cocteau Twins and late 80s house music, with Andy Martin on bass and Tom English on drums.

Jodie Nicholson – Fresh from the release of her sophomore album, Safe Hands, Jodie’s ethereal vocals and heartfelt songwriting are highlights of the North East music scene. She has shared stages with Emeli Sandé and Jamie XX.

Mt. Misery – This Hartlepool indie-pop trio channels the sun-soaked vibes of American west coast indie with a uniquely British twist. Their melodic pop songs feature heartfelt lyrics reflecting everyday life in England.

Liz Corney – A founding member of The Cornshed Sisters and keyboardist for Field Music, Liz Corney will be performing tracks from her debut album, backed by the Brewis brothers (Field Music). Her music explores themes of change, growth, and communication, influenced by Disco, Motown, and Queen.

Distant Listening – Andrew Hodson (Warm Digits) will take you on a journey through a fusion of techno, live drumming, and home-built synthesizers. His innovative approach blends structured beats with spontaneous improvisation for an unforgettable live performance.

Idle Hands – For fans of post-punk, Idle Hands brings mesmeric tones influenced by Idles and Fontaines D.C., painting a raw picture of the UK’s younger generation with seething energy and frustration.

Ben Lunn & AutismAble – Renowned composer Ben Lunn will collaborate with autistic students from AutismAble to create powerful ensemble pieces, blending his expertise with fresh perspectives from these talented young musicians.

The Frets – This band, aged 14-16, came together through the award-winning youth music program Future Collaborations and are quickly gaining a reputation for their great live performances.

Grace and Elise – Meeting through the award-winning Future Collaborations youth music program, Grace and Elise will perform together live for the first time, featuring beautiful guitar work and vocals with songs by artists such as Pixies, Lana Del Rey, and Radiohead.
