Forthcoming gigs.

Have to say Faithless were tremendous tonight.
Thought they pulled it off well without Maxi.
Out of the 3 I've been to in the last week or so. Geordie Greep, Nick Cave, and tonight's gig.
I would say I enjoyed Faithless the most.

Mimi Parker tribute night at the Star & Shadow tonight was great. 7 bands / solo acts playing 3 Low songs each. Thoroughly enjoyed it.
Got a busy week ahead - Mercury Rev (tomorrow), Interpol (Tuesday) and Emma Pollock (Thursday).
What did you think of the mercury rev gig? I thought the band were good, a little bit too much jazzifying of some tracks, no Night and Fog but overall good.
Thought the sound wasn't great mind, not sure if those speaker stacks hanging from roof are the bands or the venues, they seem to be the same for every gig I see there.

I'd looked at setlists so knew what they were likely to play. Although the set looked good on paper, I was a bit underwhelmed and even wished they'd played more Born Horses stuff. I was stood about 6 or 7 people from front and central, but sound wasn't great there. I should of moved further back. I appreciate they must be trying to keep it interesting for themselves and us, but in the main the new arrangements didn't work for me. Goddess On A Hiway was awful. Someone said to me it sounded like the Stereophonics! Jonathan usually has a bit to say about playing in Newcastle too but he seemed to be on auto-pilot. Interpol the following night was so much better.

I've listened to born horses a couple of times and yes, thought they'd play more of it. Shouldn't mess with the stuff that works though.

Yeah, we were treat to something special last night at the Interpol gig. You could tell the band were loving it as well. That performance of Lights was just phenomenal.
Really? I've not seen them before just thought they just cracked in with songs and barely moved out said a word. If that's them loving it fuck me they must be miserable bastards

Anyone know if Sage / glasshouse carpark ( roof one ) is open at moment , mrs hsm thinks there's work going on there ?
Park next to the bridge, 2 minute walk down from the Sage. Miles easier getting out
Amyl and the Sniffers on Thursday at the NX and Tropical F*ckstorm at the Cluny later in the month.
First time at NX, since it changed from The Academy. Even shitter than it was before the pandemic.

£7 pints, bars are clogging up the entrances and the usual knob heads who have lost their manners.

Free Metro travel to and from Gateshead (and others) if you show your Glasshouse ticket.

From Nexus website......

Valid theatre tickets qualify for free travel on Metro up to two hours before and after your show, as long as you’re going to Theatre Royal, The Glasshouse, The Customs House, Playhouse Whitley Bay, or the Sunderland Empire.

Great gig though. She’s f***ing amazing. Genuinely a dying breed of rock & roll stars.
