Football Insider say it's Mowbray.

I disagree. We have an exciting, young, talented squad and I'd hoped we'd use a little outside the box thinking to hire a coach to match and get us kicking on. We've seen against two of the supposedly top sides in Sheffield United and Norwich that we're more than capable of matching them. This league doesn't have the massive gulf in quality that many would have us believe, and I see no reason at all that with a couple of decent additions we shouldn't be pushing for the playoffs, either straight away or next season. Hiring a Tony Mowbray, is simply accepting nothingness and writing off the next few seasons to mediocrity.
How did we do against Norwich and Sheff Utd there? 6 points won yeah?

Mid table is the absolute minimum we should be aiming for. A couple decent signing, and the right forward thinking coach and there's absolutely no reason we should be around the playoffs. Norwich and Sheffield United are meant to be 2 of the top sides in this division and I seen absolutely no reason to fear them. Spent most of the SU match with 10 men, and had the AN fallout for Norwich and on other days we still could have beat them both
That was last weeks narrative . Now we’ve ridden ourselves of the pesky, ambitious in a hurry chap it’s going to be brilliant to be mid table

Mowbray to us is probably a similar appointment in statue to a newly promoted premier league team getting someone like big Sam in.

I'm not saying we should go the season unbeaten, but the majority of the match against sheff United was played with 10 men and we were arguably still the better side. Norwich was with canning in charge after our snake of a manager walked out the day before - and we could still have beaten had we taken our chances. Maybe you see it differently, but when I look at those 2 results (with context for me) then I see absolutely nothing to fear the next time we play them, and as I said with a couple more additions - specifically in cm.

Ah so we lost then.

Ok.

Arguably and could have.

But didn't.

Did Neil ever finish in the play offs with PNE?

Indeed. Means we'll get beat by them next time, as we were completely outclassed :(
The only thing that matters is the score when the referee blows the final whistle.

We didn't win either. You don't get anything for two loses.

To be fair it seems as though you are so anti Mowbray anyone reasoning will get short shrift in the conversation.
If you are at the sol the morra night and the rest of the season I hope you gradually change your opinion -as that means safc have done okay .
If not well TM will get the bullet like anyone else .

Everything has context. We got beat by sheff United, however I didn't come away from that result with any less confidence for our season than I had before the match. Because we played very well, with 10 men. If we played them tomorrow I won't be thinking fuck here we go again, they beat us so they're clearly better than us. I'll be thinking that we can have them and they're there for the taking. If you just see the results/defeat as doom and gloom then fair enough, but the quality of performance against Norwich under the off field shit show, again, didn't leave me any less optimistic about our quality and aspirations than I was before.

Or hoying away two goals v qpr if we want to be brutal .
Two things I hope TM can make a positive impact on -fitness going into last 20 mins and substitutions …that would be a positive move .

No idea, I'll guess not based on the fact you're even asking though
I don't think he did to be honest, can't be arsed to search through. Basically there's nowt to suggest Mowbray can't get us into the play offs either or that we're going to become some dull unambitious team. First and foremost we need to make sure we aren't threatened by relegation and build from there.

some good and promising insight on the latest (excellent as always) What the Falk podcast. Talking with local journo from Lancashire Telegraph
The more people we hear the more positive it sounds as an appointment -hopefully for us it works ?
