Fitting YJB back in?

Less than Zero chance. I did though ask for opinions.

I know one thing for sure which I am very strong on, if both fully fit meaning Brook and Bairstow both should play.

And if that case which I think it will if Bairstow is fully fit limited options very limited.

And while I agree my opinion of Root opening and them two 4 and 5 is unlikely, I genuinely think that would be best option for the team.

I suppose there is what we would do and they would do. In order of what they would do as im certain they won’t change 3-6.

1. Bairstow to open
2. Bairstow left out
3. Some other possibilities
4. Root to open

However I was after opinions ;)

Yeah I think in that the case of what I think they will do, I think they will open with Bairstow, would be extremely disappointed if he did not play at all mind??

There is of course the possibility they will drop Foakes for him, but think that the wrong thing to do?

Crawley is the obvious weak link so I would ditch him for Bairstow. I wouldn't open with though so it would be a case of someone moving up, maybe Pope, and Johnny slotting in the middle order. Maybe even at 3.

More value in his runs than foakes keeping
He'll be in the side for his batting. There's no question.

I'm sure broad and Jimmy would much rather have Foakes behind the stumps. That's enough for me.

Also while we're at it, can we stop pretending Foakes is a rabbit with the bat?

It's not like bairstow is a shit keeper bit then again you have always hated him

 :lol:I'm literally calling for him to be included in the squad.

But you seem to be going on like Foakes is appalling with the bat, when he has a very healthy average, a handful of hundreds, and holds innings together (first test could be held up as an example).

Conversely - no, Barstow isn't a shit keeper, but even Bairstow himself would admit he's not in Foakes league. BF is arguably the best gloveman on the planet ffs
Like that’s going to happen
Touché

What will happen when livingstone is fit again, as he was clearly in their plans for pakistan

then there is the kid leg spinner, whose name has left me, at the moment . Reehan

Reehan Ahmed. I'd imagine hell he second fiddle to Leach for a while.

Think Livingstone has dropped down the pecking order

It’s amazing how many options we have going forward. The opening spots are maybe the only positions not sealed bar crawley that is

hope there is still room for a player in the championship to start the season strongly to get a look in

Keaton Jennings could be looked at again

I'm not saying it'd happen, and I'm conscious of my bias, but I'd be very intrigued to see how Rory Burns would do in this set up. McCullum and Stokes are obviously telling everyone not to worry about technique, the MCC coaching manual or anything like that, and just do what they're comfortable with - Burns without a constant fear of his technique being scrutinised could really shine for this new-look England. He has been a very positive, attacking opener for Surrey for a few years now.

(Before someone jumps down my throat, I'm not saying he SHOULD be called up, just that I'd be intrigued to see how he'd do).

Indeed burns did pretty well in the championship . This Crawley conundrum is something I’ve never seen in any sport at the highest level

they clearly want him despite the flaws he has.

we’ve all on here said as a joke his dismissal and I reckon about 90% of the time we get it spot on

can they really keep ignoring it for his one innings a series with a score ?

I think they're using him to make a point. That they'll back players even through poor form, to encourage the batters to go out and play their natural game without fear.

But Crawley should've been axed a long time ago.

Just imagine how good Buttler could be in this new set up just doing what he felt comfortable with!!

Just saying like :D

Agreed. It’s a strange one but they keep n winning, so in a way it’s working

the ashes is another level though and he will simply have to score as the Aussies will know to just bowl fifth stump or wider on the offside and he’s gone .

starc bowling left arm at him and hazlewood at the other end

we saw last summer when boult and Southee had him in their pockets

The fact we're winning doesn't mean it's working!

With his efforts with the bat and in the field, it's more than fair to say we're winning in spite of him
