Well say we sign a few cbs to go with Willis and Flanagan Taylor wouldn't get minutes, if we play one up front and its a new player, and we have grigg and Wyke would kiernan get minutes

Taylor is small and weak for a cb, if they are good enough they will get a chance like hume, if we had better young players id agree but apart from diamond we don't.
Exactly you are convincing yourself there. Or are you saying we sign somewhere just to be in the squad who wont get minutes?

With Taylor I agree about him at CB but theres no reason he couldn't play RB. That's where I see him playing in the future

Neil and Kiernan definitely have really good potential to be good players still young. The other 3 have half decent experience now to be part of the squad

They also don’t look good enough. I mean haway unless Hunter turned into Cafu down at shields then he’s nowhere near the level to push a squad in league 1. Hackett is decent on the ball but another who is nowhere near. Never been impressed with Taylor at the back and don’t think not the lack of exposure to men’s football has helped. He looks undersized and don’t think he’ll ever get there. More hope for others but don’t think they’re ready and loan moves would do them the world of good.

I’d have Patterson, Diamond, Benji (but he’s gonna go), Mumba (but he’s gonna go) and Robson(but he’s left) all involved, also you’ve got Embleton and Hume in there. So that’s 7 players from the 23s we could have had involved which would have been a good number.

Well we have onien and McLaughlin the latter who nobody would want, no im saying they either won't get games or are not good enough apart from diamond, i do think out of Wyke, grigg, mcglochlin, Leadbitter we need to shift.

Again we’re not doing this just for now. We absolutely need to demonstrate to our u15s that safc is a place where you have a chance to make it. If we fill the squad with 23 senior pros you’re looking for 5 injuries to happen just to get on the bench. More if you want to get in the pitch. That’s just waste of resources - even without the detrimental effect it has on youth development. Whether Taylor is good enough is immaterial (although I think he’s got a chance, personally). What’s important is that our youth players see that if they stick with safc they will get an opportunity to show something - in training or maybe even in a match. Whether they take that chance is up to them. Right now they see a squad of utter mediocrity underperforming while gobbling up any available minutes. Bali Mumba’s experience will be a cautionary tale - as will Ethan Robson’s. We need to make a clear unambiguous commitment to youth development. That starts by making room for talented kids to get an opportunity. Besides, it’s not like the Declan Johns of this world ever earn their wage in any case.

You can't just throw a load of under 23s who can't beat teams at their level in blind faith they can step up, gooch honeyman and hume got given games so they can get given a chance if they desurve it.

It comes to a point where you need to create a pathway to the 1st squad and show a bit faith in our young lads. Tell me what the alternative is? Have a squad of 22 - 25 senior pros? Weve trying that season after season it doesnt work

You also have to factor in the Parkinson doesnt rotate so you will be left with a vastly over sized squad draining our finances whilst youngest after youngest is released without a chance

Until we shift them they are part of the squad and cant be replaced. That is the hard stance I would take
