FIRST ASHES TEST: Edgbaston

This same Old Aussies chant is getting tiresome now mind. I wish they had needed to cheat to win. Fans should accept it rather than twist.

England had the Aussies on the ropes on two ocassions.

122-8 in Australia's first innings
282-4 in England's first innings

Should've bowled Aus out for 150, if not at least 200.

Should have scored over 400 heading towards 450 when they were batting.

To be fair England have been very unlucky being a bowler down since the very first morning, and I'm certain had Anderson been fit this match may have had a different outcome.

Plenty of positives for England to take foward though. May have finally found an opener and Broad and Woakes look on superb form.

As angry as I am with England's performance, the groundsman needs shooting with shit for producing that pitch.
The Aussies couldn't have wished for a one more suited to their batting and bowling.

Take the spin option out and it was the same for both. Just look at the batting, take Smith out of the equation and most struggled. We had them 8 down for 122 after all.

It was funny for a bit, but it became tedious in it's relentlessness and actually lost it's impact.
Chanting about cheating when they've just smashed us fair and square makes us look pathetic.

Unfortunately though you can’t take him out the equation and when he averages 145 against you it dosent really matter how the rest average. And when he occupies the crease as long as he does it fucks the attack something rotten. Exactly the same reason that Cook was so decisive in the series we won over there. It’s not just the runs, it’s the pressure his mere presence exerts. Blunts the attack.

You can when the point you are arguing against is that the pitch suited the Aussie batting line up perfectly. The one area the pitch ultimately gave the Aussies the advantage was in the spin department, as im not convinced Ali would've done much even bowling last on it.

I can see your point. Nasser agrees with me, though:

"They won’t beat Australia in conditions like that. Australia have got so much more out of that surface than England got so England are going to have to go to the next ground, Lord’s, and ask for some grass on it."

Aye exactly. I’d just beam at them if I was an Aussie and they were singing it at me.

Maybe if they actually cheated in the match. But losing and calling someone a cheat when they simply beat you is just wet.

It’s just the fans having a bit of fun. They can’t help it if the England team is weak as piss. Might as well have a laugh, it’s like going back to the 90’s.

I also agree with him, as he is referring to the bowling not the batting.

I take your point but I don’t think the next 4 pitches are going to suit us dramatically more than them to the point that it makes up for us not being able to bat and them having a more complete attack. And In any situation where England post a good total there’s simply no reason to believe Smith won’t do the same.

Aye but you can have a laugh without that weak shite. Stuff like God save your Queen, etc, that’s great, witty, fun. The cheating chant is moronic football bollocks.
Can I be the first to blame Giles :D
