I don't believe this story, but I don't see why this makes any difference.

Nobody would be bidding 80m it he wasn't a good player, the fact he's shown he's a good player tonight would not be news to anyone.

In fact you could say the fact he was only a sub means it would be even more tempting to sell a sub for that amount. But the basis of the story isn't that Barca don't rate him or don't want him, it's that they would like to keep him but need the money.

On first glance none of this makes sense. Safc bidding for one of Barca's starlets just doesn't compute.
 
The New Nou Camp is costing approx €1.5 billion...they've not a pot to piss in or a window to throw it out of..this might just have legs..they need money in.

There is something strange going on with Fermín. As you know, Barça have certain financial issues - de Jong being invited to leave - Lewandowski being asked not score too many goals, etc.
Since this summer he seems to be the chosen one to alleviate these worries. I think the club have told him that if he wants to show how much he loves the club, he has to be prepared to be the sacrificial €80 million lamb.
