Everton Fans Thoughts on Rodwell

I don't even know why you come on here, the club are about to make a positive move in the transfer market and you're just spreading negativity. There aren't many better options around who fit the British players Congerton and Poyet want.

Jordan Mutch is going to QPR and he was wank in a vital 6 pointer up here.

I think he's a good signing so your point is lost on me.

Mutch was one of the best players on the pitch down Cardiff however. He too would have been a good signing.

Maybe but he'll be adopting a similar position imo.

Cattermole will surely sit deep. Then again Cattermole was inclined to push further forward last season at times. So much so he actually ended up scoring and came very close to scoring on a number of occasions. I still think we need a tricky, creative type.

Well that's the big question, isn't it. Last season, I think we'd have been better employed with Ki sitting and Catts in front. Catts doesn't have the same touch as Ki and was caught a couple of times. Obviously Catts is our best defensive midfielder, but if he can press high up the pitch that can create chances too.

I imagine Rodwell will play more in the Colback/Larsson role tbqh.

And I would like a tricky, creative type... but we have Giaccherini who is tricky and creative and best through the middle.

could just see cattermole doing that

ah come on man. We aren't using youtube as a reference, are we? He played 85 games and done that once (?) at a moment in the match where Goodison was rocking and they were flinging players forward iirc.

I was thinking the same, plus Cattermole will be less inclined to be booked if he takes down a player in their own half.

Top box-to-box players should have their fair share of chances to score imo. In fairness to Rodwell, I've no idea how his 'assists' stats stand up and he may create a tonne of chances per game but we cannot be going into another season hoping 7 goals from Johnson, 7 goals from Giaccherini and 9-11 goals from our striker will be enough for anything more than 16-18th place.

keane and vieira were box to box players. hardly prolific goalscorers

couldn't give a shit if he scored or not. the fact that he is driving forward with the ball is the point i'm making

Noone is a better player than Mutch

Noone is a winger though. They have completely different attributes.

I think Mutch is more aggressive, he can help a team grind out a win and isn't afraid of putting himself about. He's the type of player that would get a few scrappy headers just from being brave and going where others wouldn't.

Noone is a great shout though. I was thinking of him before you mentioned him actually. I'd be pleased if we signed him. Poyet used to manage him at Brighton didn't he?

Reading the first two pages, more positive remarks than the OP's linked thread but still plenty reference to his poor mentality, his ruined hamstrings and even one or two suggesting he plays simple which can be taken as positive or negative.

They don't seem to rate him

Ffs......they're opinion is as insightful as the opinions of our players on here!!!

If £6m is the price, l think this is a bargain.

Hope the lad does well for you guys! He's a good player but sadly has hamstrings made off glass, would often play 6-7 games then pull his hamstring and be out for a couple of weeks. Mentally wise I don't really have an opinion other than he can sometimes look like he doesn't have fight or aggression in him, theirs a saying we had that he was more Birkdale than Kirkdale as he didn't have that tenacity at times to get stuck in for the ball.

All in all its a risky signing but one that could pay off for you lads providing he keeps fit (a big if)

Good luck Jack! hope he does well for you lads and for himself as he comes across as a nice lad

he was the most pedestrian uninspiring "hot young talent" I have ever witnessed. Apart from the goal against UTD I struggle to remember him doing much apart from frustrate.

You're coming across like you want him to be shit. Why is this?

I don't want him to be shit at all and I'm happy to go with what Gus wants but I'm not going to ignore what fans that have seen him are saying. I'll say what I see/think and if it comes across as 'controversial' or 'negative' then so be it but it's unintentional.

My thoughts on this thread are gut feeling combined with opinions of majority who've seen him.
