Everton Fans Thoughts on Rodwell

 I'm just posting what an Everton forum thinks of our new player. Would you prefer we brush it under the carpet and pretend it isn't true? Grow up. It's good to get their opinions, they've seen him play more than anyone.
let them light some candles tonight,to remember the first world war.or maybe the fact the blue dippers have nee credit on the leccy card

I think he's a good signing for us.

A 23 year old English midfielder with a lot to prove.

If we can get and keep him fit then it could be a master stroke. Here's hoping they've saved some of the magic sponge used on Wes Brown.

This has "SMB believing what they want to believe and ignoring any negative thoughts from those that actually know" written all over it. I'll always remember the outrage at Villa fans who were tearing into our saviour O'Neill days before he was appointed. Low and behold, almost everything they said was actually true. I was one of those that refused to accept any negative opinions mind.

85 games, 4 goals for Everton. Hardly earth-shattering.

I'm choosing to keep any potential excitement contained for the time being.

edit: for the money we're spending on Rodwell, I'd have preferred us to sign Sigurdsson who was clearly available for similar money.

wouldn't say they were similar players. rodwell can go box to box which is something we have lacked for ages. the fact that he will actually make forward runs through the middle will drastically improve our midfield.

the more knowledgeable fans knew what o'neill was like ;)

I've been on here long enough to know not to take notice of idiots on message boards

Myself included

So does that mean I should take notice of them, ffs I'm not going to sleep now thinking about this dilemma

I did and from my recollections of him Rodwell has all the same attributes as Hendo, if he can stay fit getting a very similar player for around half the price is decent business, just a pity it's took so long.
If they are similar players, then I'm excited - someone like Henderson is exactly what is missing from our CM imo
& a Banega creative type too obviously

Fuck, the fact he gets in the box makes his tally of 4 very worrying.

Youre being negative, that thread says his fitness is a concern and that he was held back due to Moyes negativity, nothing to do with his being a crap player.

Someone even said when hes good hes like a young Beckenbauer and that Roberto Martinez style of play would suit Rodwell down to the ground, a style very similar to Poyets.

I reckon you should stay awake thinking about it.

Aye and Sigurdsson also isn't the kind of player Gus was looking for.

but is the type of player our midfield is lacking. We need someone to get beyond forwards and at the moment we've got Giaccherini and Johnson fannying around 30 yards from goal and then we wonder why our goal threat is non-existent.

Where in this thread have I suggested they or anyone for that fact have said he was a "crap player". I said they don't seem to rate him which based on the majority of their posts they don't.

No need to attack me ffs.

Beckenbauer?! Ha'way man

Remember this place when Liverpool signed Henderson? Many of us thought we had Liverpools pants down on that deal me included

I keep seeing this box-to-box thing then check the stats and realise he doesn't score goals so I wonder what he actually offers in the final third? We've got enough midfielders that are happy to break things up in defensive third & can run through brick walls.

Hmmm...

In fairness, Everton fans would know better than anyone how good he is. They are really the only people who would have seen him play regularly.

If the only complaints were the "made of glass" ones, I could definitely get over that, if it's true he only missed 7 games through injury last season. The ones about attitude/intelligence are a bit more worrying. Still though, compared to our other midfielders... I hope he can fulfil his potential.
