Euro 2028 SOL bid

No it isnt, we've won nowt for years and averaged over 40K multiple times despite being pretty crap/average.

So it is too big then
I’m lead to believe it’s fairly cut and dry. The FA prefer to use the SAFC package over NUFC. Hence why England matches are played at the SOL over SJP.

St James Park hosted the same amount of England games as the SoL has.

All when Wembley was closed I think?

SOL 1999 Belgium (Old Wembley was being used for a concert). 2003 Turkey 2016 Australia

SJP 2001 Albania 2004 Ukraine 2005 Azerbaijan

Gareth Southgate did say in a press conference before they played friendlies at Boro they would have played at Newcastle if full crowds had been allowed

Hopefully they use SoL again

If we were to extend the stadium for the Euros, would we have to pay for it or would the governing body who organise the tournament fund it?
If 'we' keep extending the same two sides of the ground, 'we' will end up with a Gallowgate end that's hanging over the top end of the City Centre.

42k was the perfect size for us. Was a mistake to expand.

Why did Murray extend after only being at the SOL for three years do you think?

One thing what bugs me is that the north stand is not equal rows with the concourse drives me mad! Could have made us a 50k seater. Would the south stand extension be the same?
I think it is to do with sightlines with the existing roof profile. People at the back wouldnt be able to see the far end of the pitch if they just extended the rear rows around from the Premier Concourse.

Makes sense, but wasn't it to do with the club not owning the road behind the North Stand, and therefore not being allowed to build on it?

We probably needed at least 5 years of regular sell outs at 42,000 before thinking about extending. Do you agree??

Aye probably.

We sold out after the extension. The problem was the 19 point season..... then the 15 point season. Can't underestimate how much of an effect that had on us. Team does well we'll regularly sell it out again.

Possibly, I hadn't heard that one but having been up there towards the back a few times I assumed it was to do with sightlines.
