Euro MPs vote to end summer time clock changes

I'd be happy to be in permanent summer time so it's lighter till later in the day in winter. It means a darker start to the day in winter, but that's doable.

It seems that countries might get to choose whether they want to be in permanent standard or daylight savings times though which seems a bit strange as you could have neighbouring countries nominally in the same time zone permanently an hour apart.
Need Brexit now more than ever.

I remember when they tried this out in the late 1960's in mid-winter we went to school in the dark because it didn't get dawn until about 8-45am in Sunderland and Newcastle. At the time they gave the idea up because they said the number of road accidents had increased and they were especially worried about kids going to school.
When they actually analysed the figures they found accidents had gone down. But the kneejerkers won and we went back to the present system
