As I say it's more as I've watched Roy lately and he has seemingly really struggled to start an innings in these short form tournaments (20/20 leagues and the 100). I'm aware he and bairstow are traditionally a brilliant opening partnership, but with stokes being a specialist batsman for this he's going to have to bat higher.
I accept the team they've selected etc and that it is a title defending squad

He's had 6 knocks for England this year. He got 2 hundreds averaging 46 with a 99 SR.

Couldn't give a fuck about franchise leagues and more what they do in an England Shirt.

Stokes has been absolutely sensational in franchise T20 leagues yet bar one innings for England has been rubbish. Thankfully that one decent innings won us the world cup.

James Vince is the top run scorer in blast history, tops the charts year on year runs and normally average. Yet he's never taken his chance when England came a calling.
 
Not in any way convinced that’s our best ODI squad. David Willey ffs.

John Turner in the T20 squad, I thought he was South African? He’s incredible like.

Now now, it's at least 2 good knocks in T20 for Stokes, he won us the effective QF against Sri Lanka too

I’d have went for Jamie Overton for the same reason. Even Paul Walter over Carse to be honest, or big Curran.

Realistically, it won’t matter as none will play.
 
Should provide some interest on weekdays when the kids have gone back to school anyway! If only the ECB had scheduled them during the school holidays when children could attend. 🤔
