I absolutely f***ing adore him as a cricketer. So mercurial, but some of the things he does are just amazing. Do think we've mismanaged him something rotten, seems like Root and Silverwood are investing in him now though. Hope he can get back to being a match-winner.

That little dab style shot Pope plays for a single square on the offside just screams of getting him into trouble when the ball actually does a bit.

There are only two, perhaps three (seen Smith do it once or twice) batsman capable of playing that shot with regularity - Root and Williamson. And even they get done on it sometimes. Not advisable.

Yeah exactly. Root and Williamson seem to get it much more to third man. Pope plays it a bit different and straighter and almost more through point. Fine at minute but if it’s moving it’s high risk.
