its not.

he averages 35 with the ball. and he averages late 20s with the bat.

whilst clearly having bags of ability, has he lived up to it?

Never delivered in a test you said. How about Australia at Headingly and The Oval?

I was at the Oval and he was mint.

Maybe I have not made my point very well, he hasn't consistently delivered for me. And maybe thats just my opinion.

Maybe not consistently but he's firmly cemeted the number 8 spot for me. Capable with the bat of scoring quickly and heavily and very capable with the ball.

Geoffrey on TMS:

I'm afraid this Sri Lanka attack is not as good as the Durham one, when they are all fit - Onions, Plunkett, Harmison and Stokes. Much better.

8-)

great mornings work, prior did brilliantly.

game should be set up for a win, although it should be much harder getting 20this time round.

Thats true

I am not sure Broad deserves his place in the side at the moment, his bowling hasn't developed enough

Broad is a must for me like.

Bowls at pace, can break partnerships and knows how to rattle through the tail. Also has big potential with the bat.

Dont get me wrong, Broad is a far more naturally talented cricketer. But I question whether he has ever really delivered in test matches with the ball.

eh?

he gets key wickets and is capable of brilliant spells where he rips through teams (im sure he destroyed SA in their own back yard).

Is anyone else watching the review of the 2001 series of England in Sri Lanka?

Some of those umpiring decisions.

Whilst I agree with that, it's too rarely he does it - he averages 2 wickets per test. He really needs to be getting more consistent given the number of games he's played now.

And Blackwell and Borthwick. It's probably a close call between that and the England one IMO.

I'm watching it going, "well why doesn't he review it... oh aye"

Agree with this. When he's good, he is devastating. But when he is not at the top of his game he is expensive AND doesnt get wickets. I think consistency will come with age and experience, but his bowling hasn't really improved over the last couple of years like people would expect.
