cracking weather, so imo, a big toss to win and bat first

Any team news yet? I'm assuming it'll just be a straight swap of Finn for Jimmy. Should be a cracking game, the Lord's test in the sunshine is the sporting highlight of the summer.

win toss and big.

anyone see the highlights of the 1st test where willis had boucher sniggering away? willis was asked if england would be foolish to write sri lanka off. willis (deadpan and serious as ever) "well, they can write sri lankas bowling off, they are dreadful" (sniggering begins). "they are saying they may bring in another bowler, thinking that will make a difference on a flat lords track. well in wont. englands batsmen are going to fill their boots again"

go on bob lad! :cool::lol:

needs a swing bowler in for jimmy imo. an attack of finn, broad and tremlett is too one dimensional for me.

no team announced yet but it will show on that link, asap.

one thing on that though, states that it is cloudy at lords, at the moment.

could that lead to possibly putting a side in, with humidity and possible big swing available?

i still stand my stance of batting first, if the toss is won though

like shane warne said "if its clear blue skies and you win the toss, bat. if its cloudy and you win the toss, have a little think, then still bat".

get them in, get the runs on the board and have them straight on the back foot.

i am off away now but will catch some of the match later on, with a bit of luck.

if we bat first, i will go for 350 for 4 at the end of play

shrewdie is warney

Looking lovely at Lord's at the moment, according to SSN there's a little bit of green on the surface, still got to bat first IMHO.

Personally I'd go with Finn over Dernbach, I know he can be a bit expensive, but he can take wickets and will complement Tremlett and Broad perfectly IMHO.

agreed, i think finn deserves another chance today. i think the way the side is, they will go for him before dernbach. i think dernbach, should get a run in the ODI team first personally, just to see what he is like under pressure

got to go for another england win though.

surely youd want a varied attack though marra? all those three are pretty much the same. it would be harsh on finn, but thats tough. he is in a battle with tremlett and broad for a bowlers place imo.

i think the attack would be varied. extra pace and bounce from tremlett and broad.

steady eddy, accurate mcgrath style from finn

then hoy in swann, possible spin from pietersen and the dibbly dobblies from trott.

id still go with a swing option. saying that, finn can put the batsmen off when he tumbles down the wicket

65 consecutive tests for Alastair Cook

well done Alastair

Sri Lanka win the toss and elect to bowl

I'm dumbfounded. Barmy. Got a £50 free bet from Paddypower, the gent, and put it on England to win this test and England to win the soccer. Ha'way England \o/. I also put a saver on Sri Lanka to win, draw no bet to almost guarantee profit, nee doubt England in the footy will let me down.

5-1

Strauss gone LBW

take this strategical betting shite to the betting forum

There is a lot of sense to having a varied attack, but with the weather predictions being what they are, I can't see there being a great deal of swing. The consistent pressure that the 3 pacers will be able to put on is going to make life tough for their batsmen.

Bugger it, Strauss out.
