to be fair Broad has been out injured for a long period and is not 100% back in the groove as it stands which is understandable

Does he have a groove? I'm not so sure.

Never thought he was good enough for test match cricket. He can bat a bit but he's a huffy little so and so when things aren't going his way. There is no way he will step up and make the difference England need when we're on the back foot a little. I know England like to persevere with players but I'd like to see someone else given a chance at his expense.

best player we have produced since Botham and we want to drop them

do people on here never learn their lesson

first it was Bell in SA, then it was Cook last summer and now its Broad who has had two average tests

You couldnt make it up sometimes

Is that a serious comment or tongue in cheek?

In what way is he the best player we've produced since Botham?

I like Broad - I like his attitude and I dont read too much into his current form but deary me

This game shows just how important Jimmy is to the team and we need to hope he's back for the next test, and if he's not we need a swing bowler in the team.

fully agree.

he stands above the others and we have missed him massively, especially as he has the ability to move the ball both ways.

Tbf his bowling is pretty one diminshion'able in tests. I.e. Crap.

We are missing Jimmy :-(

We miss somethimg different. We have no express pace bowler, so we need a swing bowler. Dernbach or shazad next test............ Or Saj ;)

How could I forget Saj ;), just watching Bob Willis now and he is highlighting how ineffective Broad has been for a long period now. Less than 3 wickets a test match on average. Maybe time to freshen the attack up and stick him back in the CC to get his form back ?

Edit : Along with KP

The 2 Jayawardenes out in quick succession 5 wickets down Sri Lanka trail by 95 runs

Ignore that last wicket was samaraweera

Hmm, skittle the tail, quickfire 250 and could we have a repeat.of Cardiff? I can't see the Sri Lanka batsman fancying being set 300 to win on the final day.

Or am I being far too optimistic?
