balance is in top form and deserves his chance root they need in for a bowling option lumb is to old. id have ali in ahead of bopara vince and taylor in maybe as well

Are they?

Played 3 odi's between them?

You have to get the balance between players who can play proper cricket shots (Bell) and those who give a tap (Hales/Lumb)
We need 1 or 2 of those types of players up the order though. We leave our hitters till the end when it's too late and the rate gets ridicluous(if chasing) or we have to play stupid cricket to get a decent total

We've been stuck in the dark ages for a while with one day cricket, whereas the other nations have embraced that ODI has to incorporate t20 cricket.

it wasent that long ago we were in the champions trouphy final yes we can be a lot better but that will come in time

Lumb scored a century in his first ODI the other month and has been discarded for someone older, that doesn't make much sense.
whos older than lumb

Still in disbelief as we were crap for the majority of that tournament. Thankfully bopara managed to do the silly when our top order batted like turtles

id like to see Treadwell replaced but not sure we have the quality in the spin department

I'm quite a fan of Tredwell and his record for England is good, but I feel he is only a short-term fix and his county record is appalling so the jury will be out as to whether he can cope in the test arena. If England are looking at another bowler who excels in limited overs cricket then they should go for Danny Briggs, why Parry was picked ahead of him for the world T20 is baffling.

agreed regarding briggs just don't think Treadwell will take enough wickets and he gets taken apart to often

I work less than 30 minutes from the Oval and there is a nasty black cloud hovering, I can see this being an interrupted game.

That top 3 is poor as well, Hales should be in the instead of Carberry and Vince for Bell.

Vince should be given a chance before the end of the summer.

As for Bell, 2 100's in 130 odd matches, about 3/4 match winning knocks for a bloke that bats in the top 3 is just not good enough, consistently scores 40-60 but not a matchwinner.

Hales would probably go 0,0,120,0,100- Better to have matchwinners in the team

Hales deserves a chance mate, he plays proper strokes, 1 of the top 3 has to have a go. You don't need Balance, Cook and Bell in top 3, drop 1 and have Hales opening with the licence to score.

Under 40 for a power play oh dear

shut up strauss you arse licking sycophant

Oi, how can you have a go at Strauss, fantastic captain of a very good England time, one of the best.

He shouldn't be commentating. He's far too close to this set up and his voice is boring as hell.

Loved him as a player but thats gone now

Bell with his 50, can he turn it into a match winning knock

Well done ian  what a tame dismissal
