I'd have preferred that as well still it was nice to see a bit of fight in that one partnership. I was expecting us to be skittled for under 200.

Well they have certainly lowered our expectations in the last few years. Still don't think it was an achievement though.

Dom Bess has shown the best technique this summer. I still don't understand, quite why he appears to have disappeared altogether. He batted, bowled and caught well

I know doomsday has descended but we still lead the series 2-1

True enough hes been unlucky. I think they took the view that they can afford to have an attacking option as a spinner when they have 4 seamers. Perhaps they feel Rashid is more capable of getting out the tail or a quality player when well set?

Would be the theory though at the time Bess was left out, Rashid was not playing red ball cricket.

Rashid is in the team, down to one ball that bamboozled kohli in the Odis.

Modern made a 200 plus today and if bairstow is out, I can see him coming straight back in

£10 to get in tomorrow!

£1 a ball?

I think Rashid was picked because he turned Kohli inside out in the ODI's

Is it true Cook is out of the fourth test as his Mrs is having a baby?

Can chop and change the personnel and I don’t think it will make much difference. Mentality of the side is all wrong. Root and Pope today just playing shots they didn’t need to. Very few have the mentality to leave and make the bowler work.

Yep agreed

Buttler n stokes showed the way

That’s how they need to play

Granted it’s not easy but least try

Root at 4 please please

We need a top 3 but the rest have ability

One thing I’d say which I think is that stokes, Bairstow etc are harshly criticized, they are coming in far too early due to the lack of top order

He should play next week, that’s a quality knock that

I’d play Ali in every single test in England

But that’s just me

He’s one of the best cricketers we have, he needs a rocket up his arse sometimes though

Yup and it's embarrassing. Needs to dig in. Terrible attitude

He’s a number 10 man ffs

Why are we even moaning about a tailenders batting

As someone who got one in the face I have sympathy for him. The psychology of it is hard to cope with. I struggle to pull and hook these days at a shit level, never mind with 90mph stuff coming at me

This

I honestly find the comments about broad in bad taste and pretty embarrassing

Also he’s a number 10 and in that side to bowl

Why is it even a talking point

Because he's capable of being so much better but for the psychological stuff?

Ali is defo underrated at home like. I too would have him in the 11 at home. Not at the detriment of the leggie mind.

Love have a good leggie who can bat. Only England could fuck up careers of guys who would be stalwarts in other teams.

Take SA for example. Rash would be in there for good.

Moeen in for Bairstow at Southampton, Buttler to keep wicket for me.

Cook
Jennings (last Chance Saloon time)
Root (c)
Moeen
Buttler (wk)
Stokes
Pope (Take some pressure off him by moving him down the order)
Woakes
Rashid
Broad
Anderson

Its attacking and yes the batting looks fragile if we are under pressure, but it's looked fragile anyway and options are limited.....Win the toss and win the series :D

I don’t think he is, the stick he gets is ridiculous

It’s like the Saffers moaning about Steyn’s batting

It's not like that at all.

It would only be like that if Broad was the best bowler of his generation and had never been anything more than a tail ender.

17 balls

Anderson c rahane b Ashwin 11

India win by 203

Slightly better VFM than my predicted £1 a ball.

FTECB will no doubt be harping on about making it to day five as some sort of moral victory, not the shite performance this was

There only 4 other players in the history of the entire game that have achieved what he has in terms of runs and wickets combination.

Hes one of our best ever bowlers

Not remotely interested in how many runs he scored from number 10

Strange thing to focus on
