Knew as soon as Buttler got out what was going to happen

Refer to "the art of the leave" thread. They just can't resist attacking the ball, regardless of the conditions or match situation. ODI tactics in test cricket. Doesn't take Einstein to work out where this attitude is coming from

Never said he's shit, I've just found his batting action and attitude in recent times to be poor/embarrassing. Very basic wicket that

Plays like he doesn't give a fuck if he gets out. Like Botham at the end of his career

Really pleased for Buttler, cones across as a cracking bloke.

Selectors had the common sense to look past just stats and averages and trusted their eye for talent and a bloke in fantastic form all be it in another format.

Could never understand the over the top reaction by some to his selection.

Sure you could make a argument for him not getting picked due to his red ball record, however when he was picked they were people laughing and calling it a ridiculous selection.

Why people considered someone of his clear talent a ridiculous selection was beyond me.

I like what Ed Smith has done so far, bringing in the new kids is great.

Before his come back he averaged more than all the others tried apart from Hameed

Faced 100 balls three times this summer, most in the side

That’s a good point as well, there is not exactly many others knocking the door down.

However for me, when started playing for Somerset admittedly in T20 he just looked at such a young age, to just have that big game mentality, he just appeared to have that something extra.

He is a fanastic talent imo and have always thought soo, sure he is at his best at white ball cricket, but with his talent and composure he is always worth a longer stint and more patience to try and make it at tests for me.

Can chop and change the personnel and I don’t think it will make much difference. Mentality of the side is all wrong. Root and Pope today just playing shots they didn’t need to. Very few have the mentality to leave and make the bowler work.

Good effort to see out the day

You reckon 311/9 on a good batting wicket is a 'good effort'?

I'd have preferred 180/4 and a chance of saving the game.

"Fearless cricket"

This attitude is exactly why we are 80/4 or worse in every match and need to bat down to 9.

I'd have preferred that as well still it was nice to see a bit of fight in that one partnership. I was expecting us to be skittled for under 200.
