Just watched the Jimmy Anderson opening spell above. Actually feel quite sorry for the Indians, it must be like facing a bowling machine that has a "vary" button! Brilliant, be nice if Burnley win tonight for him :p

Hameed was great. Try not to get carried away. But looked a proper player
The guys got 2 hundreds and got a good temperament...hes been found out not unlike Cook/Strauss were in there 2nd years but they went away (in Strauss' case) and worked on their scoring areas.
Cook early on was notorious for getting bogged down and not scoring for long periods of time.
Sibley should chat with Cook and learn from him otherwise he will be another Compton (very good county level but not quite good enough at test level)

He has absolutely got the temperament Sibley, he was still averaging close to 100 balls per dismissal in England

just needs to work on an offside boundary, and a rotate the single option
There's a superb thread on the main SMB forum for depression. It's probably saved lives and definitely helped a lot of people. Have a peek at that and also here for more Kohli baiting.

Aye its good, people are canny.
Burns certainly polarised opinion. He’s had too many failures of late but always seems to get a knock when the sharks are circling. Keep it up!

Its just he gets so many ducks, he really struggles to keep out good balls early, which obviously is a big problem as an opener!
Have said before but will say again that Aussie attack last Ashes was simply superb and Burns performed exceptionally well against that attack.

You don’t do that unless you have something about you

Denly did pretty similar like mind.
Don't care about chewing up balls he didn't get scores

his record was very very similar to Burns, thats the point he is making. Got 94 or 95 at the Oval, which isn't a 100 but has just a big impact on the match, also a good partnership with Root at Headingly before Stokes

Burns has a few hundreds though

No-one. That’s why it’s such a fantastic game. India having a moral boosting win, everyone bemoaning all of the injured seamers, the likes of Rohit and Rahul looking as if they have adapted to English conditions, their off form batsmen Pujara and Rahane getting runs at Lords and we roll them out for 78 after losing the toss  Then to rub it in Hameed and Burns make it look a different game. If Carlsberg did cricket days.
Shows why we need to stop playing crucial tests at lords tbh. Always do it in the ashes too and the Aussies always win there. It’s flat as fuck and suits sides like Australia and India as it’s closer to their pitches and we are basically surrendering home advantage. Sets us behind on every home series. Same for the oval too tbh. Bring them to swinging grounds or seaming grounds and we invariably win - Trent bridge, headingley, riverside, etc.

Also Lords is a bigger deal to tourists who may only play at the home of cricket once every 4 years and raise their game. It was obvious how much it meant to the Indians.

Hes a duck or decent score batter which is more understandable as an opener but also why he averages in the 30's
He just needs to go bigger when he gets his starts. Does the Jason Roy special of getting out in the 40s too often, when once you’re in you need to go big if you are a duck scorer
Hope we can see the day out, we’ve got tickets for tomorrow.
I know he’s a tit on the field but the bairn would love to see Kholi bat.
Just for the one ball though hopefully 😂

Right come on lads. Foot on their throats. Keep it there. Tbh if anything goes against us, even a solitary wicket, it will feel like a disappointment compared to yesterday!

Of the last 25 tests at Lords we’ve won 13 and drawn 5 so it’s only 7 losses. The last loss was absolutely nothing to do with venue or conditions and all about mindset and technique.

Our record is actually poorer at Headingly over the last 25 games

Isn’t just about the actual result though is it? It’s about the conditions and how they suit overseas teams more than us. No point in having home advantage if you use lords as a venue. The Aussies in particular have had massive success there recently.

Agree. Sibley averaged 47 with two centuries last year. The opposition worked out they could defend the offside with fewer fielders, as he was weak on big shots that side, and bowl to his weakness, the aerial flick off the hips. Trescothick had ample time to work with him to sort that out.
