There’s always the possibility he goes away and finds another shot or two. We’ve seen even the slightest change of stance have massive positive effects on the capability of several batsmen over the years.

He’s got half a dozen games in the Championship between now and the Ashes squad announcement to find a bit of form and if he scores a couple of hundreds there’s every chance he’s on the plane to Oz.

The guys got 2 hundreds and got a good temperament...hes been found out not unlike Cook/Strauss were in there 2nd years but they went away (in Strauss' case) and worked on their scoring areas.
Cook early on was notorious for getting bogged down and not scoring for long periods of time.
Sibley should chat with Cook and learn from him otherwise he will be another Compton (very good county level but not quite good enough at test level)

Hameed is a proper opening batsman. I think it was really hard on him batting 3 last test. He just looks so much more composed at the top of the order.

If we can get to close without losing a wicket this will be the best day’s play for England in a good while.
