England v India - Third Test, 10/07

SMB favourite Nicholas enjoying himself ;)
Summerbee?
Some proper old fashioned cricket being played today.

I don't know if it was by design or forced upon them by the match situation. Either way I'm glad they've ground it out. Even Pope. He did the hard work and had a brain fade.

Need these 2 to stick in.
Root at Lords takes some shifting.

Can't believe M Guptill tops the 2000 runs list with 27.5. I like him. Never realised he had such a testing start.
That's not his start mate that's his full test career as an opener. Only played a handful of innings not as opener and his record not much better.

Wouldn't even know where to begin manipulating Cricinfo to show the start of every player's career.

Just one who couldn't do as well in red ball as he was at white ball.

Wow fair play mate. Thought he was better than those figures like. Learn something every day.

Its been a funny day. Both teams have done okay not amazing.

I agree. Evenly poised. Neither team have gone anywhere, but IMO most of that is due to the terrible over rate. Going to lose around 8 overs today.
Just tuned in, looks like they’re a good 10 overs behind the required over rate. Was there any significant interruption or is it just India being slow?

None whatsoever, not many boundaries and only four wickets too. It’s a disgrace.

Barring a last hour collapse I think we’ve actually done well today. Their bowling has been very disciplined, and for a change so have our batsmen.

In days gone by I reckon we would’ve easily been 200 all out still going at 4.5 an over because ‘it’s the way we play’.

Given the pitch and forecast it's a big advantage to be bowling last. Although it'd help if we had a proper spin threat.
How much longer till close of play? New ball due soon, day could tilt towards India yet if they have 6-7 overs with it and they pick up a couple
Finely poised. We go in with no further losses we've edged it. But as you say, nick another wkt or two and India will be happier.

Mind I fancy Root to get his ton.
