I wouldn't mind seeing them go out for a couple of overs, just to make the Indian openers have to get into fielding mode before batting. But no more than that.

I would have declared but its not the modern way. They will bat for a bit longer and try to ensure they don't have to bat again.

I wouldn't bat on but I'm surprised that everyone seems surprised. Teams never seem to declare in situations like this or take into account weather forecasts. They wont want to bat again and probably think if Woakes and Curran can make it look as easy as they have then they may need more runs. The thought process will be if we think they are likely to bat again then we might as well get more runs ourselves.

The thought process should be "Let's win this" though. Look at what the ball is doing. Conditions being totally wasted.

Be the young lad imo. That's no disrespect to him as he has performed excellently.

I think woakes in this test has played his way into the team for the rest of the series.

If stokes does return, we would have four top class seamers.

With rash and if necessary root to bowl spin
Yeah it probablies will be.

At the moment Curran is more of an asset than Buttler. Buttler should only be in the team if he is keeping.

Not really if it chucks it down for the rest of the day

We should have been bowling when YJB got out

You said we didn't need to win....? ;)

I agree like. 300 was enough. The likelihood is they will try to bat it out now rather than flinging the bat and getting out.

No captain in the world ever would have declared then. Its easy from behind a keyboard.

That's nonsense like. It was defensive by Root's standards before you consider aggressive captains like McCullum.

I presume the coaches think scoreboard pressure will cause India to crumble. The risk is they try to shut up shop.

Having said that
