England v India - 2nd Test, Trent Bridge

England are a better team now than in SA.

England have the best spinner in world cricket.

England bat deeper.

Take Kallis out and SA are a weaker batting/bowling side (now aged 36)

England have more strength in depth and are a younger team.

South Africa are a very good team, but for once in my life I personally am looking forward to the glory years of English cricket.

my only issue is that so many teams have gone into terminal decline with many good players opting for the quick bucks of 20/20

Whats Holding going on about trying to keep Tendulkar off strike?

We need 6 wickets from 4 and a half sessions. Have a go at him, it's not like he's in with a tail ender and theres an hour left to play?

Maybe....maybe not. Each team has a generation of cricketers to remember though, and this could be ours. Do you think when Australia were dominating test cricket they cared about England running in with Martin McCague , Chris Lewis and Mark Ealham ?

Windies - Pollard

Kiwis - Bond, Styris

Australia - Nannes, Tait and Lee

and b4 I get the whole they had poor test records, your missing the point

Without 20/20 these players would have viewed test cricket as the pinnancle of their career.

Brett Lee has played 76 test matches and is in the twilight of his career.

Ridiculous examples

Pollard has never played a test and averages about 25 in first class cricket.

Bond was an excellent bowler who ALWAYS struggled badly with injuries, meaning he played something like 19 tests in 8 years. He's 36 now, as is Styris who was more a ODI specialist for the Kiwi's anyway.

Tait has played about 5 tests and had an average world cup, Nannes and Lee are both 35, the latter has been fucked with injuries for 3 years.

fair enough, as I said, completely missing the point.

While these players would view test matches as the pinnacle of their careers that doesn't mean any of them would be playing it as they are either not good enough (Pollard, Nannes) or their bodies are no longer up to it (Lee, Bond, Tait).

Windies - Pollard - isn't anywhere near a test match quality player and never has been lucky to get into the odi side as well

Kiwis - Bond, Styris - both past it and Bond has retired all togther now all 20/20 did was extend his career

Australia - Nannes, Tait and Lee - Nannes again not a test quality player never pulled up any tress in 1st class cricket, Tait is probably the best example of the 20/20 cash cow and as for Lee it has mean't extending his career for a few more years otherwise he would be retired.

I do think that afew up and coming players will concentrate on 20/20 rather than test cricket fortunatley though it doesn't seem to be happening in england

because England are a poor one day side so the IP franchises tend not to come knocking

the likes of Lumb and Mascarenhas only got a look in because of Warne

Broad, Morgan, Collingwood, Pietersen, Shah, Bopara and others all been picked up by a franchise at some point. The Indian's are more content playing their own average domestic cricketers in the IPL, no doubt due to financial reason.

bollocks man IPL can keep signing the likes of Daniel Christian for $1million and waste there money even though he's no better than Blackwell

This could be him out here, that finger has swollen up already and looks goosed.

Will devalue the win ever further
