the game needs more than 3 test nations
Its sad when you see Pakistan, WI and NZ a pale shadow of the sides they were once were.
I cant even remember the last time NZ played a meaningful test series

Bresnan has been involved in 7 tests (not including this test) and taken 25 wickets at an average of 28, scored 164 runs at an average of 32 and zero five wicket hauls, not including this test, remember.
Tremlett has been involved in 10 tests and taken 49 wickets at an average of 25, scored 97 runs at an average of 13 and has 2 5 wicket hauls.
Parnell hasn't been involved in a test match but has played 18 ODI's, taken 31 wickets at an average of 21, scored 116 runs at an average of 23 and has 2 5 wicket hauls.
Can't find any stats for Tahir but take the above whatever way you like.

They are a top 3 side. That shouldnt detract from the success England have had and particularly our bowlers.

Quite comparable barring Steyn who is the worlds best seamer. Especially taking into account Andersons early career stats which will have dragged him down.

There is 0.43 difference between Morkel and Anderson in actual stats (I rounded Morkel down from 30.22 and Anderson up from 30.65). Those sort of stats can change with one Test match. Anderson has a lot more wickets and there is only just over 2 years age difference and Anderson has a ten wicket match to his name whereas Morkel doesnt.
Overall, very comparable. Steyn is, of course, the stand out bowler.

a guy who averages 50 plus with the bat taking 250 plus test wickets at around 30 makes it a no brainer

Not so cut and dry really
They only managed to take twenty wickets once against us on the last tour, and we weren't as strong then as we are now (in my opinion of course)

Fairly sure Swann performed very well in that series (cant remember Anderson/Broad)
And im not at all getting carried away. England are a stronger, more mature and more experienced outfit now.
How many series have we gone without defeat now? Given that weve played the Aussies and SA in their back yard as well as Pakistan (albeit in dodgy circs), Sri Lanka and India at home?
Swann was backed by one poster on here to be leading wicket taker in that series.

I think it was away to the Windies which seems a long time ago
