England v India (2nd test) Lords

I’m genuinely annoyed

sat in

i really feel for root tbh. At this point he goes into every test knowing if he doesn’t perform we get no where near. Must be some pressure

He must look at the likes of Burns and Sibley on the field and thinking at least help me out here lads. Root is a number 4 batsmen who may as well just come in at 1 or 2 because of the incapabilities of Burns and Sibley. Is Stokes at 3 a terrible shout? Because I see no other alternative right now, he'd been in soon enough regardless.

So you still think that despite them being -2 for 2 and 20 for 3 and winning the game they didn’t play it right? There’s no educating some people.
They were lucky we folded like a pack of cards. I don’t think a strategy that only gives you 60 overs to bowl a side out on a flat pitch would succeed often. Even the Indian commentators were criticising the timing of the declaration saying there wasn’t enough time. They won because we were utterly woeful, no other reason. And not sure you can rely on batsman averaging single figures to pull out 89 partnerships often

It’s remekarble he averages 50 batting in England and with no top order

no way Kohli would

Talk that they might get left out if they failed again. Bizarre I thought. A world class number 3 averaging 45 and some are saying drop him  Wish we had a similar problem

aye I’m perplexed by that

last away series he was a hero in Australia too

not sure what it’s based on

they played on beaches in India

The game was lost due to a spell of pathetic posturing from an undisciplined side. They spent 30 minutes trying to take Siraj's head off instead of getting them out, and it cost us the game. The capitulation with the bat was depressingly predictable.

I'd bring in Livingstone at 3 and Mahmood for Curran and Sibley. Given that there's no-one playing any domestic cricket at the minute, I'll take two high character players.

Root is better than Kohli. Easy to say that as an Englishman like, but I don't think it's even close. As you say, he averages 50, with no support. Kholi has good batsmen around him.

if you are going that route Vince is a much better batsman than Livingstone

he has no real technical errors

he’d be my pick

I’m genuinely annoyed

sat in a hotel room in Scotland still ticking

pathetic on my behalf

You might be right

but it’s worth remembering that after 4 days we had the upper hand

it hasn’t been a hopeless 4 days

been a bad last day

I admit root carried the batting though
We did have the upper hand but we had everything in our favour conditions wise and still lost the game despite having Bradman playing for us.
